Front Pad recommendation?

Your driving inputs and the results of those inputs.

It's a great way to both diagnose odd behaviors, as well as use as a tool for self-improvement on track.

While mostly unrelated, it also serves as a lap timer and a display for any data points you want to see in real time while on track (or anywhere else).

Oh okay. Yeah, I'll look into that for next time. I just had the Track addict app for lap times, and that isn't as detailed. Would that help better understand what I was feeling with the transmission when driving home that I mentioned too?

Depends on what the cause it but the data can eliminate some potential causes.

The more I think about it, I'm pretty sure I didn't bed the pads in properly before taking them to the track, and that probably caused the vibration I was feeling. I engaged the ABS a few times when bedding them in on the street, so I think that was the problem... hopefully it was lol.

I doubt it was the bedding process. Brakes are pretty robust, and can handle a few triggers of ABS during bed-in. Bad bed-in can lead to brake pulsation that is associated with the "warped rotors" feeling.


My guess is that it was just the traction control and stability kicking in. The sport mode on the FRS/BRZ has always been quite aggressive, and even more-so on the MY13-MY16 models.

If you are attempting to trail brake or have steering input while also braking, the car can kick in with stability control. Stability control can also intervene midcorner if you happen to lift off throttle or brake suddenly


With regard to your clutch, hard to say. If you have any video if your driving sessions, you can review how good your heel-toe or shifting was. Maybe you had excessive slipping on track and that caused a change in the character of your clutch afterward

Okay, I appreciate your input. I can do some trial and error next time I'm at the track day with holding the traction control button instead of just doing sport mode. I've just been hesitant and still am doing that because I don't want to total my daily and find that traction control may have prevented that a few times on track.

Track insurance is a thing, if you want coverage.

While electronics are fine if you want to just sample the track, if you want to really learn to drive, they should be fully off. The more dependent you get on electronics, the more you'll need to re-learn if/when you decide to go drive without them.

He is not wrong. I recently was in the same boat as you. Trust the car feels much better in pedal dance mode. more natural, less twitchy because of the car trying to save you. Take things slow and warm up to your pace and bet you 100$ you will go faster while not having to over drive car.

+1 on that thought.

I'm not a very experienced track guy but I autocross a lot and in both cases the extra "stuff" just gets in the way and makes everything worse. They might be useful to the inexperienced driver on public roads but in these kinds of places I want the most predictable feel possible and the electronics are just not predictable enough.

Just want to confirm what the others said about TC off and/or pedal dance. When I started learning it felt kinda sketchy in sport mode and I was hesitant. When I finally made the jump to TC off the car did slide more but felt much more predictable and I felt more comfortable progressing.
