In the worst case, there will soon be a tune to fix that.

I feel the opposite, like the throttle is bottom heavy. I remember Mike saying the same thing.

What do you mean by bottom heavy?

Meaning a little bit of throttle movement in the pedal gives a lot of throttle response. Kind of like Sport # SI Drive mode in an STI. As opposed to a linear response where 25% pedal means 25% throttle, it's more like 25% pedal is 50% throttle and the last 25% of pedal is all technically full throttle. That's not exact, but you get the idea.

Under 4k, when grandma driving the throttle is sluggish and often somewhat unpredictable. However, once you get the motor revving, it REALLY sharpens up and the motor picks up a lot faster.

To be fair, my Miata is also the same way. It's tuned for top end power so off of idle and low revs, it doesn't feel nearly as responsive or as fast as when it's in the 3.5k+ rev range.

With this new info, I'm not worried the slightest about throttle in my BRZ anymore. Even worst case I'm sure a tune could sharpen it up even more.

EDIT: Also it seems the higher you rev, the less rev hang there is. We should really be having this discussion after our cars are broken in.
just like the 1st gen

It's actually *really* good in low RPM compared to the old car.

Does anyone think they can feel a difference in throttle response when in Track vs. Normal mode? I've been swapping back and forth, and I don't think there is one. At least not near the bottom of the rev range. I'm only halfway through the break in, and keeping it below 4000(ish)rpm, so perhaps higher up its different.

Thoughts?

I can chime in on this. Went to hoon around in the wet there other night. It is really mixed signals at low RPM.

The tip in response from stabs of the throttle at low RPM (<2500) is terrible. I was trying to use the torque to keep wheel speed up but the lack motor response to generate torque ("pick up") was so bad it would kill wheel speed. It was fairly disappointing.

Otherwise the motor is great and quite powerful and happy to rev, once it's in the happy place, it has no issues smashing the limiter. And the motor is very responsive to changes in throttle input.
