No. The intended purpose of prophylactics is what it has always been. Stop the spread of disease by preventing the user from contracting the malady. If it is not administered or used with that intent it is NOT a prophylactic. You insist on misusing the term, I suspect deliberately. You say you are not trying to be confrontational, yet you persist in spreading pernicious disinformation. The same is true of your "doing us dirty" quip. The fact that certain disreputable politicians and "news" sources promote that idea doesn't make it any truer than baseless nonsense the same sources spread about the SARS-COV-2 vaccines. Those eople haven't "awakened," they have been snowed - drunk the kool aid, swallowed the bait - bought the biggest of the big lies.
Contrary to your assertions, the current vaccines do prevent the disease with an impressive degree of efficacy. They are much better at what they have done and do than any number of other vaccines that people accept routinely. To say that the definition of a vaccine has changed is disingenuous. They are now what they have always been - imperfect mechanisms for the PREVENTION of disease. The fact that they are imperfect does not alter what they are and what they do. And it does not diminish the benefits they have and continue to confer. The use of "some people think" is a classic way of disguising the presentation of demonstrable falsehoods. One certain former public official was and remains a master of this. "Some people are saying," or "Everybody knows" followed by a whopper of a lie was and remains a trademark tactic. Unfortunately, it is effective on certain groups.

I just don't have the energy to discuss this anymore.
For you to at all see another person's POV you would have to consider that the horseshit information that you have been consuming forever might be wrong or incomplete. Fuck it. Get 2 or 3 boosters a year. I don't give a fuck. But quit trying to force it on others. Many of us just are done with it. I may catch COVID again...I just don't care. I just want to be left alone. There really are just two types of people politically. People who want to be left alone, and people who won't leave others alone. And that's the issue now. One side is incapable of leaving the other side alone. If the vaccine works so well...get it then and leave others alone. |

most people have decided they don't want it for what the fuck ever reason and they're just making up excuses as they go. adults who picked oppositional defiance disorder on the character selection and simply refuse to be told to anything about their health, hygiene or behaviors. Quote:
let's see some concrete data and a compelling argument here (there's tons of valid criticism of media about but your claim here lacks evidence). Quote:
the only people who think that the current vaccines are the end all be all to this situation are mostly the people who want/expect/demand that things return to pre-pandemic times because they wanna go back to the way things were. they wanna go back to brunch and making the waitstaff do their bidding. things are never going back to pre-pandemic times. imo, the antivax movement was going to get to this point eventually, but it's unfortunately it's playing out this way. in just over 20 years, the anti-vax movement went from extreme fringe to near mainstream after andrew wakefield concocted a scheme to enrich himself by undermining the public health in the UK by releasing a fake study that tried to implicate vaccines for the increase in autism diagnoses. the media did a piss poor job in the US to report on this accurately and the government didn't do a good job restoring confidence in vaccines (notably the UK media and govt did a good job reacting to AW scandal). but for the US, that's led to an distrust of vaccines...and the current situation has folded politics into it, forcing it to where it's at now. you're posing this as if vaccines are the only answer. they're not. all of the antivax people are antimaskers too. there is no right to spread a very contagious disease. |

This is the closest thing to a response you are going to get.
I just don't have the energy to argue anymore. We will see how this plays out. |

The Tuskegee experiment never happened. Our govt would never do something like that.

How many "brains" do you have? How about buying a car before posting on a car forum?

Gibraltar, with a nearly 100% fully vaccinated rate, has been seeing another increase in cases the past few days.
Pretty small population of like 30,000ish. Per capita case rate per 100k people right now I think comes out to around 1,200. Curious to see what other info comes regarding the recent surge.
