Feed it to your dog till you run out. There isn't much difference between "puppy" and "adult" food. Our dogs have been on one food since weaning.

So when I originally ordered the food last week, apparently I accidentally ordered the next larger bag (18 lb). I had been trying to do 9lb bags because I figured the vet would say to move him up to the adult food soon.

We know the story about the original order yesterday.

So last night I ordered a bag on Amazon because I wasn't sure when Chewy would respond and if they would send a replacement.

Today Chewy told me they would send a replacement, and it is already being shipped now.

Well, Haru and I just got back from a walk and what did I find on the ground in front of an apartment a building over? A large Chewy package addressed to me.

(the issue is that while the shipping label was correct, whoever at the FedEx facility marks the building number down with a sharpie wrote the wrong number...)

So now I am about to have 3 18 lb bags that'll probably last me 6 months...

I agree with donating, dogs can get bored of their food, happens with ours all the time. So we buy some cheap ground turkey, sweet potatoes, spinach, green beans, cook it, and mix it occasionally with their dry food. If you opt to do that, you'll have to reduce the amount of dry food by half of what his recommended serving is. If Haru then starts to skip his dry food because it doesnt have ground turkey, leave just dry food, he'll eventually get hungry and eat it.

There are so many varieties of dog food and there isn't really a perfect choice, you can buy every single bag at the store he'll like almost all of them, for a little while, so mixing sometimes will be necessary.

The only important thing is to try not to introduce a new food immediately by itself, introduce it slowly by mixing with his old food.

Bah! That's great! I'd shop there all the time.

Yeah, he's already been getting bored of this food and will skip meals so sometimes I just save some plain shredded chicken breast and mix a little in with the food.

Dogs are just like kids. They get what I'm serving and nothing else. If they get hungry enough they'll stop being picky.

Heh sounds about right. Usually he ends up eating. Occasionally I'll toss a couple kibbles over to him and if he actually eats them he realizes how hungry he is and goes to the bowl to eat, lol.

Man, you guys get a stick tool to do it? In my day you were expected to jump on it and roll around to smother it.
