Haven't reached that point in HZD, but I despise grinding boss fights, they serve no real purpose as far as I'm concerned. That's when I'm likely to wait until I'm leveled way up, then switch to "Easy" on the difficulty level to get through that fight although I typically play on one level below "Yea, you'll never finish this".

There was a game I played years ago (and now can't remember which one it was) that once you had attempted 3 times would ask if you wanted to "skip this fight" or something like that. There was obviously a XP and Level penalty for it, but you could at least move on. That should be a standard feature in 1P campaigns. Ironically, in that game I never had to use that feature.

There is A LOT of stuff to do in FC6. Certain elements that I can appreciate.

1. Building your camp; if you invest in the hideout network. Comes in really handy if you want to fast travel to a new location where you haven't cleared the anti-aircraft weapons. This also mixed with Guerrilla garrison and La Cantina. Gain buffs for 3 hours and have a guerrilla equiped with great weapons, which also allows you to buy new weapons, which brings me to my next point.

2. WIDE variety of weapons, something that was very lacking in FC5. The special weapons are more than just a fancy skin, some let you reload faster, increase damage when aimed, move faster, etc. Only downside is that you can't modify them.

3. Special Operations, if you thought there was an endless amount of side missions, how about adding more side missions to your side missions? this is a great and only way to gather advanced materials for better silencers and sights.

4. Los Bandidos, sort of like AC-Brotherhood. Send a team to clear out areas and gain special weapons and materials.

5. Lots of Easter Eggs to hunt.
6. Perks, not only on your weapons, but your equipment. Then there's the Resolver (Stick with rocket launcher) weapons that can carry a wide variety of goodies whenever you're in a pinch.

I often get a little overwhelmed with the size of the map and the amount of missions that I forget this is sort of a good thing. yes, it is repetitive at times, but offers some variety. Plus tons of opportunities to explore Yara which is almost breathtaking in its environment. I have to hand it over to Ubisoft when it came to think about guerrilla creativity on vehicles. One of the helicopters is two giant industrial fans, and it gets started with a light switch and breaker. The weapons sights is just a wire with a piece of plastic in the middle.
I'm still a little skeptical on the companions, right now I have Chicharron (Rooster), kinda useless like El Guapo (Crocodile), Boom Boom (Dog) is okay. I used to love having Peaches (Cougar) and Cheeseburger (Bear) in FC5 because that thing wrecked entire camps with ease.

I try to play it in one hour sessions since my main go-to is Warzone, so whenever I get bored of hearing about how my mom sleeps with every 11 year old, I hop on FC 6.

Moving from FC6, anyone else getting the new GTA: Trilogy? I'm mostly excited about San Andreas, the graphics look spectacular. Not sure what happened to Vice City, made Tommy and Co look like Fortnite characters. Something better could've been done.

I tried really hard to like GTA-5 but I just couldn't get into it. Open world driving games apparently isn't my thing.

I didn't say it was a driving simulator, that's a different thing.

Well, let's just say there is a lot of vehicle movement in it, and it's core to the story. Most challenges involve a vehicle with wheels with very poor controls.

I mean it's right in the name of the game.

Yes there are vehicles in it, bit it's really more of a criminal RPG than a driving game. I picture the title referring more to the crime of the same name than actually caring about driving the cars you steal. NFS and Forza are driving games. GTA and Saint's Row are RPGs with cars.

I played almost all of the Saint's Row games without suffering through their driving mechanics. I could jog, or fly, or do other modes of transportation.

It's unavoidable in GTA. That's the difference. Maybe I just didn't play long enough.

Well, except for tanks. If the games have tanks I'm all in. If I'm playing multiplayer with my kids in a game that has tanks they are usually screaming "Oh god, Dad found another tank, everyone hide!"

Cheat codes for tanks and harriers was what made San Andreas and vice city particularly fun for me...

But then what is the point of CHOOSING to play a harder difficulty?

For the most part, I prefer the harder settings. However, there's always that one boss that is not so much game play as a grind that adds nothing to the game.

Hey, it's just my own style. I get that at some level its "cheating" but within the abilities provided by the game. Heck, HZD even reminds you of it when you start the game with a "hint" that changing the difficulty changes the "fighting style" without interrupting the storyline.

I've only done it a handful of times, and it was always in games that did not reward you in some way for playing in the specific settings.

I understand where you're coming from.

It boils down to bad encounter design if it's truly just a math fight. I've had this happen in a handful of games where abilities or whatever (simple numbers game) weren't accessible at a part of a game which made the fight mathematically impossible. Not fun to waste an hour perfecting mechanics only to realize the fight is actually impossible in your current state.

It would be interesting if games were actually designed around a level cap instead of allowing you to exceed it in power. What I mean is all stats, gear, and whatever else RPGs (or similar) can throw at you were simply different play styles once a level cap was reached of, let's say 50, and EVERYTHING is now balanced around that.

I don't even mind a protracted fight, if its consistent with the game. What I don't care for is a game that allows hidden range attacks for just about everything then switches to an arena/no place to hide style for bosses or specific situations. (Different than actually choosing to fight in an arena for XP, like in Borderlands or some of the Assassin's Creed games).

For example, in HZD, there are the cauldrons where you have to fight huge machines but there is zero cover. Throughout the rest of the game you can attack from cover, or have the elevation advantage. it makes no sense that the character would suddenly attack these monsters in the manner you have to.

AC: Odyssey has this same thing. There are fights where there are mountains all around the monster you are attacking, but you can't use them to your advantage. You just have to blindly charge into the pit and run around in circles trying to shoot.

Complete waste of gaming time in my opinion. Any boss fight should be consistent with the mechanics used in the rest of the game, and you should be able to take advantage of the environment like you would IRL.
