Okay I dug it up:
http://kaizenfactor.wordpress.com/20...e-know-so-far/

So while it's not the same transmission, I think it's probably safe to say it's not a good idea to try and put more than 30% above stock torque through that gearbox.

From the lap times I've been seeing so far, the car hangs with e36 M3s quite well as it is.

It is rumored that the BRZ uses the same transmission as the S15 silvia. So read this: http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/362303...n-dummies.html

The gearbox may be "weak" but it should be plenty for 99% of owners out there.

99% of owners won't be putting turbo/SC on their car. The 1% that do should probably worry a little about it.

Even the guys going turbo should be able to put 300wtq down without having issues with it blowing. That's my guess anyway, given the updates they have made with that transmission in the past 10 years.

If they gave it the S2k treatment, it will hold up to more than that even.

Billet gearset? It's pricey, but would make the transmission handle 400-500ftlbs

Quoted for future reference. If a quality and proven kit comes out it will be a hit.

On slower tracks with a lot of turns and autocross the 86 should keep up well with an E36 M3. On faster tracks, it will suffer from worse power/weight ratio. I need 235 hp to match the power/weight ratio with a euro spec 3.0 M3. Is this important? Yes, two of my track day buddies are driving E36M3's.

Hope for you that 235hp will be enough. Euro spec M3 are as powerful than their brakes are weak
