2. Gears / Gearbox - Finding that 1st > 2nd and 3rd > 2nd is hard to engage. Has been like this since I left the dealership, however seems to be worse when its cold (especially with the way the weather's been here in Sydney)
I am having the same issue...I often find that I need to double clutch to be able to engage 2nd gear when downshifting and when I shift from 1st to 2nd some of the time it has a grindy unpleasant sound and feeling to it. I have read so many postings on this site and I'm trying to find out if anyone else is having this problem and if anyone has been able to fix it??? oh and I have done nearly 3000 KMs also so way past the break in.

Please help! It's driving me nuts!

ya exactly same for me. i brought it to the dealer twice and both times they tell me to press on the clutch all the way...and then just say well if we check it out and there is nothing wrong we need to charge you. they are useless, how many kms are you going to wait until you change the oil?

Guys try some redline products in the gearbox, with the correct thicknesses of course. Redline needs to be changes more regularly, but it's better IMO

I have noticed at certain service stations when I fill up I'll get an overflow out of the tank. Also have noticed that it sometimes difficult to engage 2nd gear.

I'm waiting to see if a consensus develops on whether or not changing the transmission oil will have an effect on the ease shifting into second gear.

I use mt-90 in my 8 (also aisin) and 75w90 for the diff
Like I said works great but needs changing every 30k, but with jack stands its a 40 min job (30 with hoist, both gb and df)
As for overflow, since this is a saddle tank, it needs to level out and sometimes purge gas (as in not liquid, gas) as you fill it, some stations have higher flowing nozzles. So make a habit to stop for a few seconds every 10 liters to allow the tank to 'burp' rather than forcing a lot of fluid in at once as causing it to spew back up.
Rx8 also has a saddle tank, please ask me how I figured this out lol (il give you a hint, had to go straight home and change/wash the jacket and jeans lol)

Also don't know if it has been mentioned, but when your low level light comes on, you have about 5/10 liters left (usually enough for 100km) this is how it is set up from factory so you don't stay stranded. Many ppl don't look at the gauge but only pay attention to the light coming on, not saying that for drivers of this car, just people in general

Sorry for the long ass posts, I don't post often enough to make shorter ones (like I used to) so now I cram as much in to one as I can. My post count was like 1100 at the start of this year or there about.. So not as active as I used to be
Cheers
Tony

I have done close to 3000km and the biggest issue I have had is a rattle from the glovebox.

Done 9000km and gearbox is really smooth. Sometimes feels too smooth like something's up with it.

I've done 300km so far but haven't noticed any problems with my glovebox. I'll keep my eye on it.
