All-New 2022 Subaru BRZ Makes Global Debut

Video comparing active sound on/off.

Not sure if it’s disabled via software or simply unplugged. Definitely sounds much more natural with it off, but it’s a bit quiet. Then again in person those sentiments may not hold up.

The sound generator was really bothersome on Gen1, hope it is better or have a easy way to turn it off.

I think someone else mentioned that a rough translation of the video seems to state that the ASC can be turned off by a dealer (or anyone with an up to date Subaru/Toyota scan tool I would assume). So similar to VAG cars I think

Thanks for the find!

Looks like the hidden CAN bus connector is still available behind the head unit, which is awesome news for people who do data logging.

That could be kind of neat. My old MK7 golf had a ton of features you can switch by coding it (that's the term in Germany land for BMWs and VAG cars at least). Would be interesting to see what else you can change.

On the GR Yaris, you can turn off the ASC via the Carista OBD dongle and app. But that's a Toyota and this is a Subaru so it may not work the same way.

Very nice clean run (and thus probably very fast).

You park the car with just the emergency brake holding it in place?

Yea same, aways have, even when I lived in PA. if I park on a hill (not here in FL lol) I park it nose down with the front tire turned into the curb. I've never left my car parked in gear since I started driving in 2006.

Really? I park my car, in gear, with the emergency brake on, with the doors locked, in my garage.

It's amazing how many RING posts I see of people that complain about things being stolen out of their car because they were too lazy to lock the doors while they park outside of their garage.

I know it's not the best analogy, but I'm always baffled why people don't take the simplest measures to prevent something crappy from happening to them.

Sorry I'm rambling a bit, I've just read so much idiotic stuff on forums and social media, I'm starting to think there should be a nuclear war.

What I learnt back in the day was that in-gear may cause damage if someone hits your bumper in a parking space, not sure if it is still true.

Regarding theft prevention, I agree, locking doors is a must. I see people leaving the keys inside the vehicle, which is downright stupid.

I park with just my emergency brake as well. With my older cars, I often left it in gear. With this car, since it's my first new car that I purchased, it doesn't bother me and it has become a habit. I'd be more concerned after some time as the car aged and the E-brake got weaker. But I've learned to pull it back comfortably and not stretch the hell out of the cable.

I don't think it's true. Nothing is going to collide in the motor or trans. Can't see why it would be an issue.

Now, getting hit in an auto car with the parking pawl engaged isn't good.
