Seems like can turn off the Active Sound Control?! I assume that's the speaker that goes Vrrooommm.

At the 6:30 Mark thereabouts he even says there is some de sync between sound and actual rpm. Off by 0.5s, which he realised only when editing the video.

According to the (dodgy) translation, can be turn off at the dealers, at least in JDM land I guess.

From the photos I seen, top spec gr86 seem to have the big ducktail tacked on top of the stock duct tail. I wonder why they could just replace the darn thing.

It's probably just cheaper, especially because the ducktail extension looks like it's only for North America. I'm just glad it'll be easy to remove both once there's an aftermarket one I prefer.

Video comparing active sound on/off.

Not sure if it’s disabled via software or simply unplugged. Definitely sounds much more natural with it off, but it’s a bit quiet. Then again in person those sentiments may not hold up.

The sound generator was really bothersome on Gen1, hope it is better or have a easy way to turn it off.

I think someone else mentioned that a rough translation of the video seems to state that the ASC can be turned off by a dealer (or anyone with an up to date Subaru/Toyota scan tool I would assume). So similar to VAG cars I think

Looks like the hidden CAN bus connector is still available behind the head unit, which is awesome news for people who do data logging.
