The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I watched a few of the new review videos, and I haven't seen a single video where the driver actually knew how to drive an autox course, or push it on track. The Toyota invited a lot more experienced reviewers somehow.

The Redline Reviews video had a ridiculous amount of understeer with the driver saying "oh it's so easy to drift!" at the same time.

I'd generally refrain from making any conclusions about handling based on these reviews. Looking forward to someone like Randy Pobst comparing these two cars for "Car of the year"?

Also curious how these cars compare with camber bolts and ~2º of camber in the front. I couldn't care less how they feel on track with 0º of front camber. I guess we'll find out about it later from folks on this forum, not from car journalists.

Silly question -- is the BRZ Gen1 camber adjustable in the rear, meaning are the LCA's slotted? If not, a lot of the `camber bolt in the rear` people aren't doing much... or something I would not trust?

Either way, I am assuming new, camber adjustable LCAs will be required on Gen2 to add rear camber and plates on the MacPherson on the front for Gen2.

Once the strut/springs are removed for `motorsports`, I am still interested to see which rear sway bar setup is the best...

I had this same thought process watching the reviews. The BRZ is plenty easy to get sideways on throttle in second gear from a dig.

I don’t think the first gen car has a lot of steering feel to begin with. It’s nothing compared to a good hydraulic rack. That said it is adequate, but I would take more feedback in a heartbeat. I’d love to turn the assist down too.

Supposedly the change in the power steering system was that they made the unit smaller and no longer two pieces, I doubt they changed the location of the motor and the worm gear setup though.

There were never camber adjustable bolts in the rear.
There were aftermarket RLCAs though, some with eccentric washers, and some with threaded rods.

Some reasonable amounts of front camber can be dialed in with camber bolts, without the need for more expensive camber plates.

Totally agree. Not going to stop me from watching every single one of them after work, but totally agree

Regarding the Electric Power Steering;

I read from multiple sources the electric power steering was “tuned” and felt lighter. I was actually afraid of this because of how great Gen 1 felt. Some of the GR 86 and BRZ reviews mentioned lighter steering feel.

That could be a deal breaker for me. The GR Supra had light and numb steering and it was pretty lame.

So the Toyota is a drift car.
Iron knuckles to allow more steering angle?
Or because it will be more durable on a car that will be driven sideways a lot?

And the Subaru will be the better autocross car?

I like light steering. =)

I wouldn't overreact based on these not-so-pro reviews.

EPS can be heavy and numb if tuned badly; and it can be light and reasonably communicative.
Wait until you try it yourself and make your own conclusions.

I think you'll find it to be just fine. Not notably lighter and still has plenty of great feedback. Certainly doesn't feel like a Logitech wheel on iRacing like some cars feel like these days.

Watching these reviews plus all of the ones spamming out of Japan really have me wanting the new BRZ. Especially with all of the oem options.

I am really disappointed with the quality of reviewers too. None of my favorites seem to have driven the car- Jason, savagegeese, the canadian youtubers(throttle house, straight pipes), smoking tire.

Hopefully there are more indepth reviews with these folk closer to launch.
