Installed a Garmin Catalyst. Sometimes I think the Garmin discount I get is a curse. Makes me buy to many Garmin things.

From traveling for funerals, vacation, field work, buying a house and living in general I’ve neglected installing the Edelbrock unit I bought in May(?). Taking a couple days off to do it leisurely. Installed a new led unit in my garage to work w.

Holy crap... you can't possibly begin to convince me that you can see ANYTHING at night time. Especially in CO roads. On top of that, this HAS to be illegal or I'll be mind blown. I guess on the positive side, the BRZ LED's are bright as hell, and may do a decent job of helping you see something...

I'm sure it is not. Drove it at night yesterday and had 0 visibility issues and hit a pretty dark road. Bought a used FRS years ago that had the same tint preinstalled when we got it so we knew it wasn't an issue. Had that car from 2016-2019.

Ok I won't convince you, but we can. It's a little dark in the mountains but this car doesn't see nighttime out there very often anyways. We have a 4runner for that. This is a weekend cruiser. Owned for 2 1/2 years and less than 12k miles. Definitely illegal but cops seem lenient on that. Also, basically every single person in the US with tint on their front windows is illegal. Most tint laws are written that if you have ANYTHING (including stock) on the rear windows you can't have anything on the front. No one goes and removes their rear tint to tint just the front.

Interesting. I have a hard time seeing through the "visor" tint in my front windshield at 20% at night. But I rarely need to be looking that high up anyway, so it never bothers me. I would think with such a dark tint as you have, it would be a serious issue, but if it works for you then it works... As you say, you're not driving it much at night anyway so I guess that takes the worry away. Good luck!

Wait are you thinking this is darker than 20%? The sun and black interior may have made it look worse. This is "only" 35% so it's not even as dark as our side windows which are 15% all around. Completely agree 20% would be brutal at night - 35% pushes it but we've never ran into an issue for us.

If you are 35% you are definitely within the law in Colorado except the front windshield if it is a full tint (I can't see the picture). There you can only tint the top strip, not the whole glass.

One correction about your earlier comment on front windshield though. It can be factory tint, just not third party/aftermarket as I understand it.

I love my 5% but on the windshield would be a death sentence. In my area you could get away with it on the street but it would never pass inspection.

35% is on the whole windshield - so not legal.

My comment wasn't on the windshield, but rather on front windows (driver and passenger). Typically you can not tint your front windows if your rear (sedan back seat, rear quarters or back windshield) are tinted, including factory. This means anyone adding 35% to "stay legal" typically isn't within the law. At least in IL and in CO that's the case, as well as other places I've read (there's that tint law website that lists everything out).

Oh god 5% on the windshield and you'd have to put your head out the window. 5% and 35% are VERY different.

Definitely thought it was darker. By the looks of it, I was going to guess 5-10%!
