I hear it on the video. Sounds like plastic touching plastic. You need someone else to drive while you put pressure on any place where parts are coming together in the dash.

I had this problem. I bought a package of felt from Home Depot. Removed the gas pedal and made a felt gasket. Placed this under the gas pedal and now the noise is gone.
I learned about it here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...al#post2817589 |

I had a terrible buzzing (meaning I could hardly hear it) and after much searching by my son in law while I drove around he found it was the speaker cover on the dash. I was convinced it was way back in the door someplace so would never have found it on my own. I just gave it a good smack with my hand and it went away (the buzz not the son in law).

Now, our 1970 MGB never would warm up inside in the wintertime, the mrs humfrz was bitching about being cold, I had consumed waaay too much whisky to be driving, and I was lost (errr .... temporarily disoriented - an Army soldier never gets "lost"). (in my defense, upcountry in CT, isn't much on street lights or road signs) The dash started squeaking and buzzing ....... and that tore it ...... so, I gave it a really good whack with my iron like fist ...... and it quit making noise. However, when we finally arrived in our garage, I noticed this long crack that ran the entire width of the dash ....... but, it didn't squeak anymore ..... ![]() humfrz |

The dash needs to be removed. It is a combo of the way the ducting mounts/overlaps. One half of the ducts has been deformed on everyone I have taken out. New ducts won't help as its a shitty/cheap mold. They need to be taken apart and foam insulation added to remove movement. I have fixed 4 or 5 including mine.

You ever heard of Chinese Water Torture? They strap you to a board and drip water onto your forehead until you go insane and crack. This is what that is like. It doesn't bother me for about the first 5 minutes, but after that, I'm nearly ready to rip my dashboard out to make it stop.

The static sound? Like what happens with an Iphone is next to a speaker and receives a text? It is hard to tell what you mean but I did notice the "electronic sound."
If that is what you are talking about, I get that all the time. I couldn't tell you the specific circumstances because I keep my music turned up so I don't have to listen to all the rattles, bangs, tapping, vibrations, clunk-clunks, etc. I think it normally occurs when in a higher gear and you put the engine under load around 1.5-2K rpms. |

Too much 'whacking' and 'banging' for my taste.. I keep thinking that cars built for America/Canada are manufactured to a lower quality as I don't get any buzzing or other noises from my dash.

I searched all over my dash for a noise, and it wasn't in the dash at all. Screws in the rear view mirror adapter were backing out, and the shape of the glass caused the sound to appear in the dash.

Ive been dealing with this buzz for a long time now. It's not the gas pedal because it occurs off or on throttle. Today I stuffed a t-shirt and some foam under the dash behind some metallic box thinking that may be the source but Its still there. If I reach under and pull the thick cables towards me the buzzing stops so it has to be something with those cables. I also thought it might be something in the door panel, also read somewhere that the window tint may be peeling off and rubbing against something.
