Yes, but the cost for a Brembo in the crashed cars market makes no sense, also, as long as I recall, it needs a recalibration on ABS/ESC sw.

Have you ever seen a set of Brembos on a BRZ in a junkyard?
Ever wondered why?

It is better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them!

Very true. But the overwhelming majority want them for looks, which is fine.

See that's the marketing logic. You are talking about maintaining product awareness.

Though I wouldn't consider the PP a strong article/news/awareness generator for the automotive media. It's a short news blip; "Subaru is offering the PP again, same as gen 1" - end of story.

To continually draw attention, they should take a page out of the FCA book. Give a BRZ to a bunch of content creators and let them go nuts with them. Put on special events, sponsor automotive events and create attractions at them. Try some experiential marketing.

For example, as I understand, FCA has a deal (or had) with M1 in Michigan, they provided Hellcats to the track at a special rate to have those be the instructor cars and for whatever else they use them for on track with their customers. It surprises a lot of people just how well they handle track duty and gets them more awareness and all in a place where one would think a land yacht has no business playing.

Lightweight 2-piece rear discs are unfortunately unlikely. The problem is that to cast an entirely new disc from scratch at any type of reasonable price requires that you manufacture a whole heck of a lot of them. My crystal ball tells me that we will have a rear brake kit with calipers option however.

This means that 08-17 STi Brembo's, with DBA dual drilled rotors, are likely still a direct bolt on. And as long as you use the 08+ rears, the brake bias is only shifted by 1% to the rear. So I will likely go this route when mine arrives.

It’s a missed opportunity from both Toyota and Subaru. Especially on the GR86 Premium or BRZ Limited. Which makes me think they will release another performance pack option at some point. I mean it’s almost guaranteed. It wouldn’t keep me from buying the first model year either. Brembos absolutely look awesome though, especially with gloss black wheels.

I’m just really happy a 2nd gen car exists, things like brakes can always be upgraded.

and be worse than stock calipers and better pads from CSG+ and better rotors.

Huh? I don't quite get what you mean. Brembos are worse than stock calipers? Or worse than stock calipers with CSG+ pads and rotors? Surely Brembos with better pads and rotor is clearly better than just stock calipers with upgraded pads and rotors.

Oh, there will 110% be a refresh with a PP later. And for wheels, I have a set of Advan RZs that's I'm getting redone. I'm leaning towards gold, but gloss black is solid second place. I just think the gold wheels on a white car look awesome. And I might paint the brembos a similar fluorescent to the 6 pot brembos.

The STI brembos will be worse. It's been proven. Spend the money to get something that's going to improve performance and not just for looks or just roll with stock setup with upgraded pads and rotors

I'd like to see where it's been "proven" to be worse. Worse than other BBKs maybe, but worse then the smaller oem, I have a hard time believing that. The simple physics of having a larger diameter, hence more leverage, alone is a significant advantage. Then add the significantly higher heat capacity, and then looking at the thousands of awesome pad and rotor options for the brembos, that's a big doubt that they are worse...

The only thing I've ever heard that "proved" to be worse was when people claimed it would mess the bias up terribly. But that was because they were using the 04-07 rears that only have a 36mm piston, the 08+ use a 40mm, fixing that bias.
