Where's your info coming from? Just curious. That makes it sound like I can order coilovers now.

Sources are from Moto-san & few tuners from Japan.

Haha I wish I get paid, but I’ll still share some of the info that I can share to my 86/BRZ community

Yup, that's what I was thinking about, but for the "off the shelf Brembo money" there might be better options.

In my case, the stock suspension goes straight on a shelf as I plan to get coilovers asap,
so if anything I'd prefer to have a Brembo-only package over a Brembos+dampers PP.

For me it's mostly a cosmetic thing. I love the look of Brembo's. I was quite disappointed when they weren't an option when I ordered my car. But, like mentioned above, it doesn't seem like anything was significantly changed in the brake design. This means that 08-17 STi Brembo's, with DBA dual drilled rotors, are likely still a direct bolt on. And as long as you use the 08+ rears, the brake bias is only shifted by 1% to the rear. So I will likely go this route when mine arrives.

This is what's holding me back from getting a BRZ right now. I don't really want to buy a kit and do it after when I could get it that way factory...and we know they can do it factory for a reasonable (to me) price. Time and the hassle is worth paying for it factory.

With my plans for the car, the PP is a must.

My guess is they lost 20% in sales easily due to no performance package available the first year. $1100 dollar option will cost them millions of dollars of sales.

People are really really dumb who pace out these things. The refresh gained more excitement, but that was in a ghost of a car no one saw for 2-3 years. By now the BRZ and 86 are pretty well known and people just want to order it exactly they way they want to.

I work in marketing and I see these drawn out plans all the time, incremental updates. Look at cell phone/tech companies. I don't think it helps them, but I am not looking at the data they have to get to the decision to hold off on it. Hopefully its available on the '23 model or '22.5 model.

I have some regrets not getting a PP Mustang GT...I had planned to do everything myself since I got the car for a steal. Long story short it's a lot of work I don't have time for, though it is cheaper than having gotten it factory in my case. But some of it I can't do myself like the Torsen swap. Thankfully no Torsen swap needed on a BRZ.

I say give all the options up front and let people decide what they want and when, it's just more sales up front and more buzz around the packages sooner. Its a car, not everyone can just keep trading up on them when incremental updates come out.

People either have an old car or old cell phone and want what is is new.

the iphone 12 doesnt have touch id, people waited for 13. That does not have it either, people are now buying iphone 11's, big spike of that due to bad news.

Incremental does not work for a car. i buy a car every 3-6 years now. I will simply wait for the PP version of the car. I could really care less about someone's add-on system for 3000+ dollars that also is not on the excellent warranty of Subaru.

Or, I will order another MX-5 RF like i have now. Just to get a new one. It's f***ing awesome car and the most beautiful production car made. Just cant hold things much. The other issue is that Mazda has crap stock on them. they complain about "low sales" yet never have stock within 300 miles of New York City. Stock = sales.

So who wins the nitwit race? Order a mazda this winter? Or order a BRZ with microscopic brakes?

Sachs dampers, strut tower brace and brembo's made that a must buy.

No updates, no reason for a magazine to write about it after the first year?

Who cares if most of the cars are not raced? If it is an 1.1k option, I think even for aesthetics it makes sense. And if you do race, the difference is bigger.

Also, makes sense to increase the reselling value of the car, as second/third owners may be looking for a track car.

So, why bot give the people who is buying the option?
