First, I like the wheel directory, and appreciate the work put into it.

I browse by new posts most of the time, since it covers interesting topics across the various forums. I was actually going to report DarrenDriven, since I had incorrectly assumed they were just more annoying vendor threads.

Hope you are right that it will let off eventually, because other than the wheel directory itself, there isn't much in this forum that appears useful at first glance.

As mentioned I'd just look at the index with the pictures, one looks good click on it for all the details, whups way too heavy back to the index. Once the weight is listed (even approx) that would be amazing - but hell even getting the weight off some of the manufacturers homepages is like pulling teeth.

The current method being used doesn't bother me at all. As a matter of fact in my entire interw3b experience I've never once found myself bothered, annoyed, inconvenienced, or offended by too many topics. Perhaps that's just because I'm one of the rare few that actually realize I don't have to read the ones I don't want to.

Must be that most forum members actually do read every single topic. I apologize if not following suit makes me a lesser person. Must be I'm lazy.

At any rate, if complaints flow in and an alternative is necessary then how about a wheel sub forum within this sub forum entitled Wheel Directory. The wheel directory thread would be stickied at the top and all the individual wheel threads would be put there. Discussion on a particular wheel would happen in it's own thread.

This would keep the myriad wheel threads out of sight of those with a compulsory reading problem.

Edit: I wanted to add that complaining about having to read too many threads is like holding your hand over a lit candle and complaining that it shouldn't be sitting there below your hand because it's burning your skin.

Edit 2: I want to ship some of these compulsory readers and entire set of encyclopedias and some phone books.

If this site's method doesn't work for you the solution is simple. Then go to tirerack.com and use their search facets to look at FRS/BRZ wheels by weight, finish, size.

DarrenDriven, your system works, and your efforts are appreciated.

What gets me, though, are the people who seem utterly incapable in this day and age of finding information on their own. It's called Google, children, and it's right there at the top of most browsers anymore. Just put in the name of the wheel you're curious about, the word "weight", and click enter. 99% of the time, you'll get your wheel's weight in the first ten results.

Good god, most of you would have been utterly incapable of functioning, and possibly eaten by wild dogs, back in the days of encyclopedias and phone books, before the Internet really got going.

I think it's great, I haven't been on a forum where someone has invested so much effort compiling something so useful. With that said, I think we should not be posting images that are photoshopped as references. Also, wheels that are extremely rare and difficult to track down aren't of much use to anyone. So I would leave the obscure ones for someone else to post if they actually have them on their car.

I think a way to keep the forum more organized and streamlined would be to have threads by wheel style, rather than a different thread for every single size and offset.

ex:
Enkei RSM9

Volk Racing TE37

Also for those concerned with weight, a Top 10 known weight would be useful

Maybe top 5 per size 16/17/18/19

I tried to make a thread dedicated to wheel weight, but weights are hard to find.

quik, I hear ya... but many of these topics are posted by the vehicle owners... and they deserve their own topic. I feel that this has to be consistent... so we either need to combine all topics about a certain wheel (angering the owner who posts his own topic) or have a different topic for each combo. It will get really confusing if we try to do both, I think.

I'm already starting to get duplicate model/size/offset info that I am posting in the appropriate topics as replies, so as time goes on this will happen more and more often and result in fewer brand new topics.

I like the idea of a subforum specifically for the wheel threads.

This really takes the "haters gonna hate" saying to a whole 'nother level. I happen to like and really appreciate the current system. Would you rather scrounge through a 500 page long monster thread looking for offset and fitment info? Seriously, the things that people will find to complain about. Amazing, simply amazing is right.

I think people are reading into this wrong and misconstruing what he says. I'm pretty sure he's not saying that the wheel directory should be taken down, which is what has the information you want, but that each picture doesn't need its own thread. It clutters up the subforum. Hence my suggestion above that if they really do want to keep this system with a thread for each picture, they should be in their own dedicated subforum.
