If you can't get A052's, then get the Nankang CR-1's, they are closer to the yoks then RE71's (which aren't even made anymore)

The other alternative right now is the Falken RT660. The word I get is they are pretty close to the RE71 for time, and the price is low enough to consider them if your balance between budget and competitiveness leans towards the budget side. That's what I'm running for now as the car isn't very developed anyway (we won't even talk about the sketchy driver )

What is the consensus on the Koni/Ground Control coil-overs? I have run them on multiple Miata's and love them. I am looking to replace my FEAL 441+ coil overs as the bearing in the camber plate is making some noise and they just have always felt under-dampened (Especially on rebound).

I was thinking about trying this combo, but with a similar spring rate as my current set-up, with the Race-valving and double adjustables.

+1 get used to falkens if you can't get yokes, Bridgestone are doa.

Mx5 racer, imho copy someone who's fast and friendly in your region if possible, doing something less then ordinary only works out if you've got a consistent test n tune course and plenty of time available to hone in on what works with that setup.

I'll vote here for the Nankang as an alternative. I've been using them to save my precious Yokohama's and they are fine, but of course more expensive than the Falken. If cost is a factor, go Falken.

+1 on the Falkens. Since the Yoko's were nowhere to be found, I went with a set of 660's for this season. Really enjoying them so far and have found them to perform better than expected. Only downsize is the weight, but I think it's negligible in reality. They're also much quieter than the 71R's which is nice while on the streets.

I appreciate the reply, but I am not looking to copy a set-up. I helped install parts and set-up Teddie's BRZ (2019 National Championship winning car), so I have experience with fast set-ups, including my current FEAL 441+ set-up. I am really looking for any insight anyone may have on the Koni/GC set-up specifically.

If you don't want to copy anyone's set up, the Koni/GC setup seems to be the way to go. I searched and couldn't find a word about them.

Well, I wasn't really a fan of the Koni's that are part of the SSC kit, but I think the combo could be decent for the price. But at the same token, wouldn't it be easier to just do some Bilsteins that are easier to revalve and have them setup to your liking? Which the price point of the Bilsteins its probably a wash. I understand finding a Koni rebuilder is getting a bit difficult these days.

I'm in uncharted territory over here with my Nitrons that just arrived so I understand the not wanting to necessarily copy anyone's setup, but there are of course growing pains and challenges to that...

In a different car (ES MR2 Spyder) a few years back, I tested Bridgestones vs BFGs at Lincoln and a low grip local sealed asphalt site. Bracketed ABA testing, both tires in prime condition (sticker BFG's and about 20 runs on Bridgestones) and took enough runs that consistency wasn't an issue. Basically ran the same times on both tires at both sites. I liked the car a lot more on the BFG's and they paid better contingency, so that is the route I took.

Neither tire can hold a candle to the Yoks.
