The duck bill on Tom's actually looks good when it's black. If it comes off easy, I'll see if I can paint it black too.

To each his own, but, no, the duckbill doesn't look good. It's still a goiter, a tumorous growth where there shouldn't be one.

The more pics I see, the more I'm starting to go back to my original feelings. I started out not loving the new car. Then as I thought more about the torquier and seemingly much improved engine, I warmed up to it.

Now I'm back to thinking I couldn't live with those atomic rocket bunny side sills. They're bigger than running boards on a 1920's Ford. I don't have any children who would ride on them, wouldn't carry a tool box on them, and probably couldn't convince a starlet to pose on them. I catch my feet on the sills of my WRX too often. With those much more protruding ginormous water wings on the new BRZ, I'd be tripping over them and falling face first into the car every time I tried to get in.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Not disagreeing with you exactly, but I do believe the side sills aren't nearly as big as they are perceived to be. If you look at the first photo that is featured on this MotorTrend site, you can see how at an angle nearing the front view of the car, the side sills really don't protrude out that much. And though I do believe your comparison to a 1920's Ford is mostly sarcasm, they are obviously NOTHING alike in terms of size. But you do mention you have a WRX (of latest generation I assume), and I would bet those side sills protrude pretty equally in comparison to the 2nd gen twins, so if it's a problem for you now, it will continue to be one.

Interesting review, however the handling conclusions are relevant only to the twins shod with Primacy HP tires (at least going by the photos taken by the reviewer) so how the car handles at the limit with PS4s remains unknown.

At least that torque curve looks so much better....

The Google translation of that GQ review is actually pretty good, worth reading.
