I had to look it up to see if I spelled it correctly b/c it didn't look right - but I like your version even better!

Spoiler:

To call the sounds these 2 cars make "disappointing" would be a gross understatement. Even the Land Rover before them sounds much better. Sure, they weren't being pushed very hard, but even so...

That was the first thing I noticed, how damn quiet they were, almost like EVs. OK they were not being pushed hard, but c’mon, every other damn car made louder and more interesting exhaust noises, even the bloody SUVs.

I have yet to find any artificial engine noise through speakers appealing in any car. Piped in induction noise is at least a real sound, but 100% fake noise through the speakers always ends up sounding like a crap video game. Horrible. Maybe it would sound better if the car has a decent sound system, but that won’t help the twins given the budget speakers in them.

Man, they’ve got a BBK on that car. Shame they couldn’t do a Performance Package again.

I think they sound perfectly fine! Lets face it, most buyers will prefer the quiet tone of these cars that doesn't scream for any attention. These are not racecars and nor are they known for their speed/acceleration, so there is no need for them to sound like they can rip it. You are making comparisons to a far more expensive vehicle with a much larger engine that was meant to be "heard" and stand out by design. Pointing out a random example like at 5:21, it sounds nice and throaty, and you can hear that they are only revving around mid RPM range, if not lower.

Those that want more sound will have plenty of options from the aftermarket world.

I agree that they shouldn't sound like an F-type R, that would be ridiculous, but these remind me more of a Corolla with a mild sport appearance package, at least as heard here. The GR86 IS a sports car after all. Seeking a middle ground. But more data is clearly called for, 1 clip recorded at some distance does not a strong case make for any argument....

Pretty common for model years in Japan to not line up with US market.

Agreed, hence why judging their sound by these clips with their very mild driving may create quite the inaccurate opinion of their sound.

I think looks-wise, this is the best version of the GR86 I’ve seen.
