Just like fake carbon fiber or aluminum, if it isn't the real thing, don't do it. Just keep it plastic or wrap it in leather.

The whole ‘forged carbon fiber’ thing still makes me laugh. Because scrap carbon fiber doesn’t sound good lol.

I think its a fair topic to discuss.

Well I haven't seen anything official from Toyota or Subaru, but there has been so much Japanese language content that it might of been confirmed elsewhere?

The only 'Toyota' source I know of has been ken, who said the sound was all natural.

Its still being talked about because the sound in cabin sounds exactly like it has in all of the other shots where we all thought it was faked, so either 1) ken drive it when off and this car clearly doesn't need it turned on, 2) there is no sound enhancer, or 3) ken is full of shit and we still are yet to hear the 'real' sound.

I LIKE the sound not matter where it is coming from, but clearly if its real then its all that much sweeter.

A lot of automotive terms in Japanese are just the english words adjusted and spelled out in Katakana.

I will do my best impression of google translate. I just started to self study Japanese so I'm probably wrong!

In the video the presenter says "sound creator" and "speaker". The text on the screen at 7:57 says something along the lines of "new saundo kurieita atmosphere has spirit good".

The car appears to not have a radio but the sound creator probably has its own dedicated speaker that is installed in every car. The way to turn the sound on/off is likely a menu item in the instrument cluster much like the shift light/buzzer and gear indicator setting is in gen1 cars.

What is it supposed to be/mimic?

Looks like something from an early 90's car with tacked on trim....

I thought it looked like what Lambo is doing with forged composites. Not sure if anyone else is doing something like this. https://www.lamborghini.com/en-en/br...ged-composites

It doesn't appeal to me no matter the car and reminds me of OSB board.

The sideskirts on the one @beltax90 posted above (or something similar) would be a must have for me on a GEN2. Definitely improves the side profile.

I'm a fan as well. The only big thing that bothers me with this kit, is it looks VERY aftermarket body panel addon style (which it obviously is). Maybe this is only from my perspective, but when I think of a clean design that looks "stock", I think of the STI kit on the previous gen for example that adds a great touch to the car, but also looks like it was always there from the factory. Maybe what bugs me more is too much color match, I'm not sure haha.

I don't disagree, hence the "something similar" but it definitely looks better to me than the side skirts earlier that were flat and left a gap between the built-in aero and the skirt.

Well, to be honest, just about everything built these days looks like that to me. Other than a few rare pieces, even from the OEM, they all look stuck on, no attempt to make it not look that way. Don't even get me started on a Rocket Bunny type kit...
