Is the black side mirrors an option for any trim?

How can it be that all these tuners get vehicles but we've yet to see an in depth review/road test?

The JDM scene is very close nit with the manufacturers.

It's part of the marketing plan at Toyota. "Hey buy this because see all the stuff you can do!"

Synthetic pumped-in engine sounds are one of the Great Automotive Abominations of All Time. Another sign that the end of the world is nigh. It's a disgraceful travesty. Shame on you Subaru and Toyota.

BMW has been doing this for some time. It fits with the whole superficial image-is-everything pretender persona of that company. But I thought Subaru was above that kind of crap.

When I was a kid I clipped playing cards to the wheels of my Schwinn Stingray bicycle so they would clap against the spokes and make it sound like a 'motorcycle'. Yes, that's how we used to 'soup up' our bikes back in the 1960's. It's OK for an 8 year old, but when a car company does it... might as well have the driver make 'vroom vroom' sounds while in the car. It's about as real, and about as satisfying.

Yes, I know. Like most things in life, it all comes down to money. It's cheaper to write some code and pump fake noises through an existing audio system than to engineer and build a real exhaust system that sounds good in the old-fashioned analog way. I get that with turbo engines with muffled intake sounds, but the BRZ is naturally aspirated. How hard could it have been to give it a genuine sound?

I hope there will be a way to disable this, or that some smart hackers come up with a way to neutralize it. I don't think I could live with myself, driving a car knowing that the sounds are coming from the audio speakers and not the engine itself. I don't care how it will sound disabled. I would want it OFF.

Love the improved performance numbers
Hate the new look. Too busy.

But maybe that's what a new generation of car buyers are looking for.

Dude calm down. Both Subaru and Toyota have said you can turn it off at every reveal event since November.

Thanks! Now I can sleep again, lol!

But even if it's defeatable, it's still pathetic that Subaru and Toyota included it at all. NO effort should have been spent on fake engine sounds.

good. Even if it was hard, the aftermarket will correct. Even on the VWs and BMWs the community figured out how to disable it.

The second generation of any beloved vehicle sure has a way of eliciting demands for perfection. I saw the same thing in a former life when the second (and consequently the third) generation Yamaha R6 hit the scene. Dudes were wailing in the streets and vowing total war because Yamaha dared imagine a bodywork shape that wasn't a mild iteration of the previous. Full disclosure, I was one of them in 2006...

But come on, guys. Let's not pretend as if the previous model had no drawbacks, in an effort to preserve our nostalgia about what we already own. The duck bill is a deal breaker? Like the moustache on the 1st gen was just deliciously attractive? Buncha nit-pickers, we are.

Based on Ken Gushi the improvements sound very promising.
