For me, the bigger duckbill (that's what Toyota calls it anyway) just accentuates the disconnect between the front and back ends.

As someone else mentioned, I think I'd be more inclined to get the regular trim and put my own wheels on since there don't seem to be any significant mechanical differences.

Speaking of - has there been just a simple list of differences between the two? I pulled this out of announcement:



Aside from the couple extra speakers - I don't care about any of the Premium stuff.

The premium grade comes equipped with a rear duckbill spoiler, adding dynamic contours to the car’s sporty feel.

But that's stupid though, it definitely bears a *lot* more resemblance to a duck's *tail*, and also it's at the TAIL end of the car!

I like that spoiler. In my opinion it corrects the proportions of the rear, too classic sedan in the standard version

Michelin Primacy's vs Michelin PS4s is a huge difference for a daily driver. Not 200 TW track tires for sure, but they do significantly change the character of the car.

I hear ya but it's really not a totally new car. Maybe I'm just trying to convince myself that all will be OK. Anyway, until I see it in person, the duck bill/tail is getting in the way of my enthusiasm. I'm in no hurry and the C8 is growing on me. If I can fall out of it without looking like a jerk, it might be in contention. I know, 2 different cars/driving experiences but we all have to make compromises.

Ah, young whippersnapper... my school is probably older than yours. I came of age lusting after the truly classic car designs of the 1950's and 1960's. Smooth, sensuous, curvaceous flowing shapes that were truly works of art and beauty on their own merits, without any added frippery like 'duck tails'. These designs predated the Porsche 'whale tails' by decades.

Check out these true beauties on wheels. Something like the Alfa Romeo Sprint Speciale, or Jaguar XKE Coupe, would have its looks utterly destroyed by a duck tail. They don't need such nonsense. They're gorgeous without them. The BRZ is no Sprint Speciale, but it's still a very attractive car, and IMHO, much better without any spoiler, duck tail or wing.

To each his own. But I think the classics never go out of style.
