The only thing missing is the duration. Unless something changed, the YT ad algorithm lets you stuff more advertising into 10 minute videos so you can monetize your content more effectively. Said another way - 10 minutes videos make more money.

Not complaining though because it sucks to watch 8 minutes of fluff for something that takes 2 minutes to explain. Just sayin' if you want to increase monetization....

What I'm really interested in knowing is the intent of such well polished videos for such a small (and saturated) target market. Getting "enough" traction on YT ad revenue could be a good way to offset your hobby costs assuming the channel is operated by an LLC, the LLC owns the asset production operation (Car, camera, computer etc) and therefore a lot of the cost of what you're doing can be written down against your business taxes since it's being used to legitimately generate revenue. Are you expanding to become a youtuber full time, or a way to mitigate the cost of the hobby? SavageGeese did that here - he started off making videos of the twins (mostly negative) to kick off his YT career and now he's reviewing everything under the sun with pretty good viewer counts.

As a racer of cars, I am very interested in a way to A) generate ancillary revenue to fund my hobby, B) find legal ways to write-off much of the expense of my hobby and C) definitely both A and B!

Is something of this nature taking place because I would be curious to know more. I'm also curious about how many labor hours go into each video. Back when I was playing with video editing I was around a 1-2 minutes of footage edit per labor hour on average (I was not good at it though).

Honestly, I just make these videos because I enjoy the process. I'm not in it to make the most money I can, my videos aren't even monetized currently.

I found that doing this as a job(Subispeed & FTspeed) it was very easy to get burnt out doing the same thing over and over again and working on the same cars, so this is kind of my outlet where I can enjoy working on my own car and share the process at the same time.

I went to school for videography so that's where that comes into play and it's why I enjoy documenting everything whereas most people find that part very cumbersome and time-consuming.

I just want to make videos that I myself would enjoy watching and that are helpful to those that decide they want to watch. That's the main goal, as for a way of offsetting the costs of our stupid expensive hobby if I'm able to turn this into a successful channel that can help mitigate the cost that'll just be icing on the cake.

At this point, I've made $0 from YouTube and I've actually spent a decent amount on equipment and such to film and edit, but that's because, as I said, I actually enjoy doing this.

The time spent post-processing really comes down to what kind of video I'm making. Of course, if it's a long install process or a detailed guide, it's going to take a bit more time to comb through everything/create animations and turn it into a well-polished video, but if it's just a short exhaust clip video I can knock that out in a few minutes. On average I'd say I spend about an hour to an hour and a half editing each of my videos.

That sounds about right. When I used to produce a weekly podcast, I found it was a two- or three-to-one ratio of production time to actual episode time. I'd spend three hours doing post on a one-hour show. It was maddening at first, but I got a lot better at it over time.

Took the FRS back out to Raceway Park of the Midlands for a Fast Friday. My intentions were to just have a bit of fun with it while we were testing out our Lemons car, but I ended up setting a new PB!
