Too bad Mick scratched the paint on his Haas , missing out on doing it again qualifying.
He did it twice! The first time was FP2 when he hit the barriers in Massenet and then parked it at the Nouvelle Chicane bringing out the red flag to end the session.

The second was in FP3 when he did it again red flags and all.

Man, Botas cannot catch a break... And even when he doesn't drive well, Hamilton gets lucky. Would likely have been 9th if 2 of his rivals (ok less so Leclerc than Botas) hadn't gotten screwed by crazy mechanical problems. And he had the gap to take a pit stop for fastest lap.

Charlie should have been the driver of the day, showing his classy sportsmanship shine by
hanging around to give support to his team & congratulating Car-Loss and not just sulking back
to his apartment like some would have done.

Even though Monaco promised to be a procession This one gave quite a few good surprises.

Had a tear in my eye seeing Mighty MERC messing up giving some
points to others, So did HAM but it is evident he was pissed off with the situation.

VET got driver of the day, Is this his new awakening?

Interesting seeing Serena waving something other than a racket.

And they gave the SC a day off, which I never expected.

Good show all & all!

Seeing Charles at the finish was good sportsmanship. Max's "partner" as they called her was more entertaining with whatever harness she wore exposed before the Serena interview.

Gutted with Botas' string of equipment failures costing him podiums.

Vettel earned DOTD, showed previously missing patience and controlled aggression.

Serena was funny at first waving the flag with her backhand grip then stopped waving after the first finishers went by until an official next to her told her to keep waving and she switched to a topspin lob motion that added flair to her style. I was intrigued with her post race interview with Max in the background that reminded my just how small and light F1 pilots are. She made Max look like an Oxfam survivor.

Yeah, was waiting for a SC. Impressively clean race with lots of drama mainly from rare Merc team pit screwups that triggered Ham.

Great to see Max stirring up the driver's points lead. F1 needed a day like today.

Monaco needs to be removed from the calendar or change the layout. There was not a single pass on track after the first 20 seconds of the race. The only position changes happened entirely on pit strategy or mechanical issues.

The problem isn't the track its the cars.
The cars are WAY too big.

I'm sure if they tried F1 could make a car closer to whet we had in the 80's in size and still keep them safe.

That plus dirty air.

NO!

So you like street circuits then hang on for the next one at Baku in 2 weeks.
Although it has some wide areas it also has some tight twisty and quite unforgiving sections such as Monaco.

The big draw for Monaco is tradition and how hard it is.

Just to tie in a bit with MAX’s “partner” her dad a Three-time world champion Nelson Piquet,
who never won in the principality, once said, "victory there was worth two wins anywhere else,"

The Monaco Grand Prix is considered part of the unofficial motorsport Triple Crown, along with the Indy 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The current layout does not work with the current cars in terms of "racing". They are simply too fast, big, temperamental, and the risk of crashing is too high considering budget stuff. Qualifying is great, but they can't actually race there anymore.

The problem with the cars is that their size is a result of all the things that make them fast.

I tend to agree with this. Beautiful place,, lots for history for sure but current cars are not designed for it. Basically it's follow the leader.

Its more of a place the drivers like and fans hate…

What’s the solution? Fill in the marina a bit and make an oval?

“Monaco is my favourite race of the year because of all the adrenalin and excitement you get from it,” said 2018 winner Daniel Ricciardo.

“I think the Monaco Grand Prix is always going to be respected and everyone’s going to want to win it,” 2021 Carlos Sainz

"You always want to win this Grand Prix” Max 2021

“It’s always a dream to be on the podium here. It’s extra special.”
“It’s even more special than any other track” Lando 2021

But than again
“Monaco Grand Prix is “never exciting”, says Hamilton - However admitted the track remains as exciting to drive as ever.2021

They may say that of all the tracks…

I was going to say the same ^^

The drivers love it. The teams love it. Monaco has a ton of money, it isn't going anywhere.

Yes! Monaco is to F1 as Wimbledon is to tennis and Land Cruiser is to Toyota. Old school icons that have their place in history guaranteed.

True, the cars have become too fat for the circuit but that adds the extra element of not having a break, physically or mentally, anywhere during a lap and if the driver loses focus, there's a heavy penalty like we saw with Leclerc this year and some champions through the years.

It may be the shortest course of the year with essentially no passing so the pressure shifts to the drivers to concentrate, the crew executing one perfect stop, and the strategists making the right, timely calls.

I didn't know that about Max's partner so looked it up. Kelly likes F1 pilots, had a three year relationship with Kvyat and have a daughter together. So it was more than Red Bull where Max replaced Daniil.

Daniil lost his ride at Red Bull to Max
Daniil lost his girl to Max
Danill is not best friends with Max…
don’t invite both of them to the same party
Kvyat … also lives in Monaco.

Speaking about Max’s..

RIP Max Mosley 81.
