Make's it hard for me to rag on the clickbaits when Subaru/Toyota can't say the same thing twice in a row!

I have faith that you'll somehow still find a way.

I feel like a lot of the 4's are a pride thing. I keep telling myself my BRZ looks better but when I initially see these new models I think that they are very nice. Would love the instrument cluster and I'd take a steaming pile of dog sh*t over my stock head unit so I'd definitely take that, too.

I find the GR 86 better-looking than the GR Supra. Once your brain processes that the GR Supra’s headlights are oversized for the width of the front bumper, it just starts looking awkward especially when the nose comes in.

I’m not hating on the design but when I see the clean, simple front-end of the GR 86 right next to it, it’s not hard to realize how busy the GR Supra is and makes it easy to appreciate clean & simple designs.

I don't think that's a controversial opinion.

Whilst it would be great to see a full 1 sec improvement in the 0-100 time, I’m also sceptical. That’s a significant reduction for a fairly modest power and torque bump, but maybe it’s possible. More importantly the added torque should make the car feel stronger in routine driving. The twins were never the car to get for rapid acceleration and drag races from red lights - so many quicker cars around for that.
Its the weight being so low still. I can totally believe those numbers.

The base GR86 actually has a greater power to weight than a base WRX here in Australia.

WRX 1447kg @ 197kw = 136.14 kw/t
GR86 1270kg @ 173kw = 136.22 kw/t

Power figures doesn't mean much alone, unless you are looking for top speed numbers. It is the power to weight ratio that matters most.

And manufacturer rated power figures mean even less. What it puts out at the crank can be radically different from what it puts to the ground.

They are good indicators, nothing is perfect. I mean the WRX will probably lose more through the drivetrain than the GR86 owing to AWD (I assume this is still the case anyway), but I'd still expect it to be pretty close.

Yes power to weight is far better and more relevant than just power or torque to assess performance, but even inside this metric its not perfect.

As its based off a peak figure (even if its combined with a figure that isn't), it still suffers from the same bugbear as when we use ANY peak figure - it matters what the power was across the WHOLE rev range of your required application, not just the peak. No doubt the WRX would have a good chunk of near to full power for larger (if lower down) part of the revs when daily driving. On the track a little less advantageous.

But anyway, the FACT that we are thereabouts to the performance of a ~265hp WRX turbo with just a NA boxer 4 pot is freaking awesome in my books.

The improved tires (assuming they timed this on a car on the PS4s) would help too.
On the 0-60s, even magazines are wildly-inconsistent (some of them allow a few feet rollout before they start the clock, some of them will dump the clutch or abuse the car for the best possible time, etc)
