A 370Z has front double wishbone as well but people like the feel of the twins more.

Of course just having a double wishbone setup isn't going to magically produce a great-handling car. Other things in the design and tuning of the Z degrade its handling. Plus there is that weight.

The issue I have with this is that now that a double wishbone GT3 exists you'll hear critics saying things about the prior generations they never mentioned before. Its like folks are scared to speak their mind about a GT Porsche until a new model shows up.



That was my point. DW don't necessarily make a car better. I wish we had camber adjustability from the factory instead of having to buy those parts in the aftermarket. The old GT Porsches had that.

That practice is fairly endemic to the reviewing business regardless of car make/model. It's almost certain that the initial reviews of the upcoming twins will cite deficiencies in the previous generation that the new one corrects, weaknesses the authors had apparently never discovered in the past seven + years, had downplayed at the time, or were now exaggerating to make the new cars look that much better.

Most reviewers are afraid to bite the hand that feeds them, with a few notable exceptions like Savagegeese, and individual critiques like Toni Scott's recent takedown of the Supra over at TheDrive.com.

I am certainly not arguing that it will be anything hefty, because we are talking about several pounds really. I was simply mentioning the downsides to that style suspension. I think the biggest of course still goes back to the engine being too wide and the room this suspension style takes up.

The differences you are seeing are most likely an artifact of the different lens focal lengths (wide angle / zoom) used for the two shots. The dimensions hardly differ IIRC, but those photos make the greenhouse of the new car seem about 30% smaller which is nonsensical.

I’m not sure if that’s a good thing but that surely looks kind like the red on some Supra.

I think the MR2 red was a lot deeper
