Not at all, it was more of the running joke of how american made vehicles are somewhat more unreliable, but then again, they are the most common vehicles found on the U.S roads, so its only natural to see them broken down on the road more often.

My guess is that Dwayne Johnston, Vin Diesel and Silvester Stallone are incarcerated (wrongly) in the the jail and the tank was supposed to explode so they could escape through the resulting gap in the fence and confusion but something went wrong.

That could be. The Rock has a home about a mile from my house he uses (or at least did use, it's up for sale now) when filming in Atlanta.

Going by the fact that the Toyota Camry has been the top seller of four-door sedan in the US for many years, you would think that we would see more of them breaking down, other than the one that I noted last week, but the first point you make about American cars being somewhat more unreliable seems to explain this trend.
