Damn... I know he had issues with depression and substance abuse, but that's really sad news.

He was very open about his history of substance abuse (cocaine, heroine, LSD, alcohol) and the remorse he felt about his job breaking his first marriage. He also felt like a poor father due to the amount of time he spent away from his children travelling for work. May he rest in peace.

I enjoyed his shows. Why don't these people get help? Sad. RIP.

Parts Unknown was my favourite food show, the most interesting by far.

My late mom was an avid cook and she to was a huge fan.

Such a sad loss for the world.

I hope this is not a dig at Kate Spade.

Easier said than done, and sometimes it just snaps.

An indirect personal connection committed suicide Wednesday night, even though her family knew nothing of what she was putting up with.

It's like asking someone "if you have cancer, why don't you just get cured?" Sometimes mental illnesses cannot be "cured", you can only keep it at bay with a proper support system.

RIP TONY

I will miss his melodically eloquent use of the English language to share his view of the worlds sights, sounds, smells, and tastes. So sad.

My heart goes out to his family and friends / especially to Eric Ripert.

Clipdat · 06-08-2018, 12:48 PM

Yeah, I can't believe they were together in France filming for the next episode when this happened. Imagine how devastating that was for everyone working with him to find him in his hotel room like that. Horrible.

Yea, I know. One of my best friends snapped 4 years ago this month. I miss him. Mental illness is awful.

Too bad, I enjoyed his shows.

Sad ….. like they say "suicide, a permanent solution to a temporary problem".

I'll throw this out there, but it's not always temporary... only the severity is temporary.

I'm not a TV person so have never seen one of these shows, but it's still always sobering to hear when these things happen - so many people left with a hole to fill with memories.
