I was showing that after putting a trim package on a 5-door hatch Yaris to put its features comparable to the base xD (also a5-door hatch of similar size), the price came out pretty much the same, with the xD about $500 more...but it also comes with the more powerful 1.8L over the Yaris' 1.5L. Like, the xD comes standard with power door locks/windows, and remoteless entry, the yaris doesn't, and requires the basic trim package to get those features, and its probably the most common trim you'll see at a Toyota dealership. Infact when I worked at a Toyota dealership in '05, I rarely saw a completely BASE model Echo on the lot...it at least had some form of trim package. Likewise, the xD comes as base with many extra 'features' as standard, and the rest you just addon. After that you can select from accessories on the yaris that the dealer installs, just like Scion. The difference is that the Scion had a much larger selection of accessories to choose from, which is probably why that tC's price jumped so high. I compared the two because they're both compact 5-door hatchbacks that probably share the same platform, if not close to, and made by the same company. |

At the end of the day I don't really care what badge is on the car as long as the car itself is great. Scion certainly injects a massive dose of immaturity and n00bness that the Toyota badge lacks. If the Subie looks great, then it will be a shoe-in to nab the Subaru, as I'd rather be associated with butch bull-dykes than pimply high-schoolers!

Besides, everyone will KNOW I'm not one of "them" (the stereotypical Scion tuner) because my car is actually going to...you know....be applicable for actually racing it...not wiping it down with a diaper. Also, fuck what other people think. If they're going to draw conclusions on the type of person I am, just off the badge of the car, they can shove a prodding rod up their asses. Hell, I wouldn't own/drive an AE86 if I cared what most other people think...especially girls...weeee, asking a girl if she likes the way the AE86 looks is always fun.... "It looks old and ugly" is the usual response....

My point really was own/drive the car because it appeals to you, and don't worry, or care, what the masses think of you because of what it is. In the end, the badging is more or less just the skin. You have to look inside the car to truly appreciate it. I should get a P.h.D in car philosophy. |

If that were true you'd be calling the vast collective of AE86 enthusiasts ricers because we swap JDM front-ends onto our cars and leave the Trueno, or Levin, badges on them, while the rest of the car is usually cleanly done with parts that actually DO make the car go faster, in both facets of the term (Straight and cornering). IMO, there's nothing wrong with rebadging a car if said car is basically a USDM version of whatever car you're badging it too. Things that don't count? Putting the notorious GT-R or Type R emblems found in many stupid stores, on your car. THAT's ricer. Unless your car happens to be a GT-R, or Type R, and you needed a new emblem. I think that face is hysterical btw. He's referring to something I said in my "Why working on your car is fun" thread. Check it out for a good laugh. |

Besides, the emblem I'm swapping on the hood isn't going to be the modern Toyota emblem. No sir.
