Hah, probably not one big enough. The helmet is about 6" by 6" without the stand and weighs a couple of pounds.

I also have a 500+piece 24" long Halo Energy Sword to assemble at some point.
It is plastic and it is a model so....

If you can find a way to support the helmet and have it "float" above the bobblehead body, it could work. But that is a lot of work for something that may not work.

Silver base on Zero. A coat of hairspray will go over that and then colour on top of it. Then a bit of water and a toothpick will take off sections of the colour coat to show the silver underneath as chips.

Pontoons for Seiran complete and ready for paint. One will be assembled and one will be just coming out of the sub storage tube. Since they will not have the same level of wear as the Zero a different method of showing the chips will be used.

Why hairspray, and why would the pontoons have a different level of wear? Is it more or less wear?

When the hairspray dries it reduces the adhesion of the top coat. You can then chip and rub the colour coat off and the result looks like chipped paint with the aluminum showing through. The late war Zero aircraft had horrible paint since they ran out of primer and resources were tight.

The pontoons are for the other aircraft I am doing in conjunction. I built both at the same time since they both needed the same colours.
The Seiran aircraft were top secret and even the Allies best intelligence didn't even know they existed. They were pretty new and not flown often (never in action) so they didn't get the wear and tear that the Zero fighters that flew almost non stop action did.
EDIT: I see I typoed Seiran twice that may have caused your confusion!

Mind boggles.. when and how did you discover that hairspray would do the job (not sure what?) between coats?? Any particular brand of hairspray?

Way way back in the olden days there were these things made out of paper. They were called magazeens or something like that. Some guy must have experimented and found that if you used it between coats the second coat could be chipped away in a controlled manner. Not a method I use often since it is usually used to show extreme wear. Doesn't matter what brand.

I still have a subscription for a paper magazine. Had it for 20 years now. I will however be cancelling it at the end of this period. It used to have dozens of reader and staff tips, pages of reader submitted finished projects and a bunch of kit build reviews by the staff. All with nice big pictures and well written descriptions.
About 3 years ago a new editor took over and changed the whole thing. There may be 1 or 2 tips (if any), a couple of build reviews (almost always fantasy or obscure scifi subjects) they cram about 20 pictures to a page (imagine if all the ones we posted were the size of a stamp) and a handful of reader builds with little detail in how it was built. What they do have in every single issue is about 20% of the space dedicated to painting wargame figures. The info was cool the first two or three times but earing "first I did a base coat, then a dark wash, then highlights" accompanied by tiny picture that look like the subject was 1/2 a mile away got old fast! Come on guys we get it already. It isn't like the magazine is selling to people new to the hobby!
This is why I have migrated to a model forum full of old dudes (seriously I mean OLD. They would call Hum Junior) since they have subject matter more in line with what I do.

It is sort of handy that I post here first and then just cut and paste everything to there.

all of the magazines i used to subscribe to have been bought out, or cancelled. then they roll my remaining 2 year+ subscription into something only vaguely related that has less reader involvement and more editorial shouting-into-the-wind articles, and i start dreading every issue.
