Hello falcon_wizard,
You wrote "-The Adjustable PCV was fitted in between the Intake manifold and the AOS, instead of between the Crank Case and the AOS" but on your scheme it is installed between crankcase and aos. Am I right that between crankcase and aos must be only stock pcv valve and 3-way check valve and adj. pcv valve istalled after "out" form AOS? Thank you. |

As a note, I have been running the set-up for while now, with great success. I have had to tighten up (screw in) the cruise to transition screw in the adj pcv from time to time, when I felt the torque response diminishing, but that’s it. It takes litterally 30 secs to do and you can sense with the torque response right away if its right. I found the car also performed very well with a bit lighter oil Redline 0-40 (vice RL5-40) oil for daily driving use, with essentially no oil consumption and near instant torque response, which tells me that the positive vacuum system is effective and avoid pressure buildup and oil flow issue with the turbo. When attending advanced driving clinics, RL 40WT would be used instead, however some oil consumption was seen, albeit well within expected margins I would say. Cheers |

For all that money, why not just run a vacuum pump?

The main cost of the setup is for the AOS which really is for blow by management and ensure clean air is recirculated, so that part of it would still be needed even with an active vacuum source. The vacuum source in this passive setup when in boost is the turbo, which was already there, and the manifold during idle/cruise, so a matural source of vacuum as well. the rest is the pcv valve which is not that expensive, hoses, clamps and check valves, so no big cost items there. It would likely be a even more complex setup, as the vacuum pump needs to be controlled depending of the engine load/rpm, needs to be powered, etc.
This being said It’d be interesting if anyone has had experience with an actuve setup to share... I recall reading that some high end sports car do have such setups - BMWs possibly. |

hello, your thread is very helpful to my current puzzle with my PCV system and oil consumption. I'm in the process of reading up on the links you have posted thanks a lot for sharing. https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...82#post3424482 this post is outlining my issues, if you had a moment to weigh in, I would really appreciate this , since you are ahead of me in the understanding of these systems. |
