Canoo Pickup

Found this announcement from Canoo on their electric pickup interesting and more in line with what I hoped the Tesla truck would have been. I appreciate their focus on practicality. Supposedly they want to deliver early 2023 but I am skeptical.

I saw the pick and thought this was a Tesla Semi competitor.

Honestly I was hoping the Tesla truck would basically be a mini Tesla semi.

Neat!

That looks so much more ergonomic and practical than the stupid Cybertruck. I could see that going into production. It has the look of a mini cab-over, but also with some Heinkel He 111 design cues....

OMG you’re right!

(I only know of/think about the famous ones)

Do you have a model of that one?

Ah, so that's what it'll look like with a lift kit.

I do like these connections though. I've always found cab-over configurations to be really neat on paper.

Problem is this isn't a cab-over/forward-control. Just look at where the front doors, mirrors and seats are. It's a traditional layout with the windshield pushed all the way to the nose. Granted, the seats are still much more forward than your typical ICE truck, but it's no closer than a minivan or a small hatchback (like the Honda Fit, for example). Just better use of front space without the need for a large engine.
I can't imagine this being too aerodynamic, nor how exactly does it feel and function from the inside. And looks like even a mild fender bender will crack that windshield.
For a realistic approximation of the layout just push the windshield so that it starts at the side mirrors. Then it looks just like a stubby truck.
