They were the ones I was referencing. I like the knurled feel, but the cheap light weight plastic feel of it and the silver tone is eh.. The new gen ones look cleaner and heavier, but I won't know till I touch one.

Ya the proof will be in the real thing since there is nothing saying that the new ones will have any better feel or appearance in real life. They are pretty in pictures but then so are the current ones.
Let's face it, at the price point of these cars you are never going to get luxury level knobs, switches or buttons. They will always reflect the cost cutting measure that they are. People expecting much more will continue to be dissipointed.

Exactly. I think they did a fantastic job in the first gen of making the car luxury enough for me for the value. Besides, simple stuff like knobs and such get plenty of aftermarket support on this platform where you can upgrade them to whatever look/feel you desire.

Never realized there were different styles in the 17+ cars. They are nothing like mine.

Yeah they only changed on the Subaru side.
Its as if Subaru gave Toyota their leftover knobs when Toyota decided to give the 18+ 86 models the GT trims and Subaru switched to the revised knobs for their refresh.

Like trying to keep track of what head unit was used when and where!

Yeah. Every switch and knob being milled from a solid block of aluminum is neat and all, but I'm not interested in paying for that. It's fair to expect a bit more heft in the Zupra or the LC500, but not the entry-level sports car.

They look fine and work well. Good enough for me.

Does anyone (hopefully an insider) have any idea when a first drive or review embargo for this car is?

The refreshed factory knob that came in the '19 is nice, but I prefer this...
