Bonnet alignment
Hi,
My 86 has an uneven bonnet gap, (larger gap on the drivers side compared to the passenger side). I was just wondering if there's a correct way to shift the bonnet left/right? i've never touched the bonnet before so i dont want to do anything that'll make it worse. I'm aware that people recommend to unbolt the top fender mounts and move it inwards/ outwards to get the right fitment. However i'm reluctant to do this as the drivers side wheel is already poking out more than the passenger side. I'm hoping to move shift the bonnet closer towards the drivers side and then adjust the fender on the passenger side to make the gap even. Hope this makes and any help on how to do this would be great. |

Yes loosen the bonnet bolts and shift the hood. Also a big rubber mallet can correct gaps.

Had this issue previously, surprisingly the fix is to adjust the top 3 bolts of the side fender that you want to align the hood to the side that is affected. Hope it helps

You have 4 bolts 2 on each hinge that can be loosened push the hood over to the direction needed to lessen gap tighten bolts, check gapping rinse and repeat. You can also do the same if the front is off by looseneing and shifting over the latch. It is all actually really pretty easy. I had a seibon carbon fiber hood that had a large gap on driver side at top side of hood but almost no gap driver side bottom side. Basically it was angled. By adjusting those 3 points I mentioned i got it 100% perfect fitment everywhere.
