depends entirely on whether i planned the job out in advance, or if new bolts can be delivered by tomorrow.

i've always re-used the copper drain plug crush washer...

I've seen a number of how-tos on a variety of mod procedures and I can't think of any of them that mentioned the fastener replacement issue. I swapped out my stabilizer bar bushings (front and rear) recently. At both ends, the FSM specifies new fasteners. The front subassembly uses eight 10mm (shank diameter) bolts that get torqued to 44 lb/ft, That seemed really low considering the number and size of the bolts. I reused. Similar with rears.

Over the years, I've generally seen the bolt replacement requirements in torque-to-yield situations. I've religiously applied the replacement rule in those cases. Other places like brake caliper bolts on roadracing motorcycles where the calipers are coming off and going on like neon signs - generally not. Subie seems to take the approach that "if you turn the bolt or nut, replace it." I chalk it up to litigation paranoia, but ... Thanks for the input.
