I mean if that's the generic line your attempting to describe, 95% of all vehicles fall into that category. And while the bumps may not be a requirement, they were beautiful and helped the car look like nothing else in their families lineups, and we're a throw back to numerous classics. The '22 took generic to a new level.

Disagree. Bumps are/were a styling gimmick. Basic underlying car is attractive enough to not need them. IMO.

I'm going to step out on a limb and say the fender bumps on the first gen. were probably the "hot button" for a lot of people after they test drove the car.

I placed a deposit spring of 2012 on the first sale of sale in Canada, with the right of refusal upon test drive.

When a vehicle became available to test a few weeks later, I got to wait my turn in line taking an automatic up and down a straight side street for around 3 minutes.

In retrospect, since performance wasn't demonstrated on the test drive, it was all impression. And I do recall taking note of the fender bumps while in the driver's seat. It reminded my of taking out my uncle's new Corvette Stingray in the early 80's.

I do agree the gen 1 would still be a very attractive car without the bumps, no doubt. While I do like the bumps, the whole car would continue to look seamless and flowing without them.

That doesn't mean taking them away somehow fixes all the other mistakes made on the gen 2 design though lol

FD steering is *SUPER* slow at 16.6:1. Honestly it's one of the things I couldn't warm up to with mine, and one of the reasons I sold it. Ditto my 987.2 Cayman, which was slow-steering and worse, nonlinear. 2nd-gen FT86 is only going from 13.1:1 to 13.5:1. We'll see how it feels but I don't expect it to be that different. LOVED my AP1 S2000's steering ratio (though it didn't have the feel of the ft86), and it was 13.9:1. AP2 went to 14.9:1 which was noticeably slower, but not bad IMO (other than again not having as much feel as FT86).

Regarding fenders, the FD's are *super* smooth and not "bumpy", and the bulges are actually tight over the front wheels and actually necessary for clearance, whereas the FT86's are WAY up there, and unnecessary.

If they had not been on the Gen1 than they wouldn't be missed on the Gen2.

Frankly though its a unique part of the gen1 design language and identifies the car. Take them away, and cosmetically its generic sports car.

As I said above the Gen2 BRZ a pillar forward is fine, but it's generic.

Will test. Will buy if I like it and it lives up to the formula that has worked well with my 20 BRZ and previous years. A good test to confirm and if good, I would buy first year as well.

Psychotic? If I am I would hardly be in a position to judge my own mental state, so I guess maybe...

Anyway, every post I made about fenders was a response to someone else's comments on them, if you wanna review the thread

Mainly I saw it as an excuse to post up pics of some cool and/or weird old cars...
