If you plan to stick with it, an ultrasonic knife is where it is at. $400+ though...

$400!? Yeah, not really planning on cutting anything else, maybe the R34's hood, but that one should be easier since it will only be the sides.

For those that paint year round, any tips on painting when it's winter/cold?

I put a portable heater next to the painting booth. I turn it on 30-60 minutes prior to painting. I paint in my cellar (which is not heated) so it's not exactly like the outside, but still fairly cold. Great results. Also I always keep my cans in hot water prior to painting and in between coats I put them on the heater to keep them warm.

Well now, I don't have a portable heater (not going to buy one just for car models ). I paint in my garage, so I'm assuming it's cold (I like the cold, so I don't usually find the temperature "cold").

I wonder if I can spray a layer, then bring everything back inside the house immediately after. Then bring everything out for the next layer, etc.

Try it on something you don't care about first?

Yeah that should work. Or the frames all your pieces come attached to (I forget what it's actually called)
