not sure how I feel about the design. Looks kind of similar to the new Z. Not as mean as the first gen. IMO the supra is the only recent car that nailed the design from the get-go

Highly interested. Although I am on the list for a Gt4 4.0, trading in my MY 16 gt4. I may finally consider swapping my 06 s2000 for one of these. That torque band is highly welcomed!

Well, to be fair, I wouldn't get either if we are talking exterior design. On the 400z it just looks like they started at the back with the design, got to the A pillar and just gave up doing anything interesting forward of there. At least the BRZ has some character.

I'd be quite happy with the interior. It's a nice upgrade without going all "Tesla" on it. I would miss the middle dash hump though, I think it helps make the interior a little more interesting.

as soon as i saw design of 2022 BRZ, i was like "WTF, it's Hyundai Tiburon at front and Accord at back" increased 2 Liter to 2.4 with power and Torque are nice but I can't justify to trade my 1st G to this. I'd rather do F/I on 1st Generation. just my thought

If 86 owners taught the powers that be anything, it was that forced induction is not the answer for these cars. The tons of money that's been wasted on "supporting mods" that all end up in the classifieds for half price, the back and forth with tuners and datalogs......even toyotas supercharger project got scrapped

Anyone think the sound tube will be replaced by fake engine noise through speakers?

In fact, the peak torque gain is probably more than the 30tq difference there. Considering the 1st gen lost 15-20tq in the dip, this 2nd gen may gain 40+tq, if it has a smaller dip, which means horsepower gain down low may be significant. Again, the area under the curve and the shape of the curve is much better. Torque comes on sooner, is more steady and is greater across the entire rev range. I'm sure the highest horsepower gain is closer to 20% or greater, even if the gain of peak horsepower is only 11%.

Ugh thank you. Nobody thinks about the power under the curve until they FEEL IT. This new engine should feel massively faster if people do a tune and light wheels/tires. Hell, even stock it's probably going to feel a lot faster. Can't wait to see dyno graphs stock 2.4L vs stock 2.0 on the same dyno.

Yep. They will pipe sound in somehow. The tube isn't where it used to be but we can't see what is underneath everything.

I have a 2020 4Runner Daily Driver that will be paid off in April (have to carry loan until April...otherwise I have to pay back my $1000 in dealer cash)

Anyway, I will test drive the Miata RF (again) and the 400Z and the BRZ...they all look great on paper...

First time in a long time that we have a real choice.

Also if they release a manual Supra...I would look into that a lot.

I miss my BRZ (sold it when my Grandfather gave me his 1991 BRG Miata...which I still have and its super fun).

Have not logged into the forum in a long time but as an outsider and seeing the new reveal, I think it's an evolution for the car. Exterior wise, I don't mind the aggressive lines but am not a fan of the rear tail lights. I like the interior and and the original FT86 seats were some of the best ones out there, and the new car looks the same.

The radio looks awkward, I like the physical buttons but it seems like a lot of waster real estate and the screen could have been even bigger. But I am nitpicking.

Power wise, I get the NA 2.4. The goal with the original car was an NA engine and to keep cost inline I think this engine makes sense. It seems like a marginal bump in power, but I still suspect the power will be one of the biggest negatives about the car and a reason why Toyota/Subaru should consider a TRD/STI model with FI.

Pricing will be critical especially as it relates to the new 400z, and an all new Mustang coming up soon.
