Specs... do not expect highly on it, even w new engine. They added extra ps/TQ & called it good. How much? Can’t say. Below 300? Yes. Below 250? Yes. Below 240? Yes. Below... let’s stop here, cuz it gets sad. Even though they could of pushed it bit more. Why they didn’t? Idk. Maybe global safety? & if you’re wondering, yes TQ dip is still there.

That will disappoint a lot of people, me included. It pretty much rules the gen 2 out for me, although maybe the overall package will change my mind when I get a chance to drive one. But coming from a car now that has decent power and smooth torque delivery, I don’t think I could go back to the twins’ power and torque delivery characteristics.

Before they find me & yell at me, I’ll stop here.

It basically is an FA20 with bigger holes. It’s a bigger bore with the same stroke. It shouldn’t be any heavier.

Fair enough, that's a good point. I think it might be a *bit* heavier if some of the rumors are to be believed with respect to some active safety features they're adding, though hopefully the power-to-weight ratio is kept as is.

Yup. I think the 2.0 version of the first gen actually had some great updates; felt torquier due to revisions in the final drive, a few extra HPs and the smaller, Lotus-like steering wheel really made the car significantly better to drive.

Here's hoping the second generation captures some of that refinement. I'm definitely planning on test driving one, at the very least.

But, putting the Rex 6 speed into an Allosaurus was a popular modification back in the day

Plus, with the Allosaurus weighing much much less than the Trex, the Allosaurus was much cheaper to run, the Rex spent way to much time in the pits getting new brakes and tyres

I remember watching a well setup Allosaurus lapping the larger and more powerfull Trex at Bathurst, watching it overtaking the Rex, mid corner, on a wet track was a beautiful thing to watch

I wonder if it will go the way of the DC2 Integra Type R to the DC5 Integra Type R. The later model was less raw and more refined, but the DC2 model is the one the enthusiasts love. Not that the DC5 was necessarily a bad car, just not as raw and heavier etc. and it had more power. At the end of the day it can’t be everything for everyone.
