This is so true. My friend from Brazil told me that my 07 STI was selling for insane prices there when I first bought it new.

Noticed he was from Australia, I’ve had an 05 GTO, an 09 Pontiac G8, and the Camaro SS/RS which I just sold which all had “Holden” dna (multiple corvettes, Camaros, imports in between)

Even in America now Camaro prices are insane to me honestly. This was one of my side cars I just sold to get either the upcoming brz/86 or a 2020 if I don’t like the new model.

My 2012 5th gen, was $31000 out the door new SS with RS package, LS3 426hp stock and a manual transmission.

The current 6th gen is mid $40’s for the SS 6spd.

Reason I sold it is I live in California now (not Detroit) and live in the mountain roads, hence the need for a lighter car which handles well, this car was 3860 pounds without driver. Fast in a straight line, but far too heavy! Only had 48k miles when I sold it.
I still have my STI, but want a light weight RWD platform.

This car had HP but HP isn’t everything, I have more fun in my friends Caymans, Mx5’s and BRZ/86 in the mountains compared to the Camaro. I prefer a lightweight RWD drivers car personally.

Inflation sucks No way you can get a car with 400+Hp and a 6 spd manual for $31k nowadays

Correct, US, Canada are a go Japan as well, I believe it’s just Europe with an issue but I could be wrong, hopefully someone with more info can chime in.

there was a UK story where they said the new BRZ was a "U.S. only model" and after that all the fake news copied and pasted and it freaked non-Americans out.

here is Japan's site, but im a having a hard time navigating through it.

I’m even more curious about Toyota’s upcoming model now....very hush hush on their front, but they are pushing the Supra hard currently so I kind of understand.

Hoping to hear more from Toyota after the Subaru version gets unveiled.

Still have my 07 STI, 69,000 miles thus far.

This awaiting the new BRZ reminds me of the new WRX/ (then STI later) that was launching after my 07. After driving the 08 hatch and multiple current STI’s they aren’t as “hardcore, raw, drivers car like my 07 is, the new cars feel heavy and numb in comparison. That’s my worry about the new brz/86.

If the car loses its drive ability in place of added weight to modern safety standards I’ll grab a current gen.

Again, I maybe one of the few hoping for a NA motor, with just fixing the torque dip, and a better refined chassis.
Ps. Under 3k pounds as well

I fully agree. The wife's 2011 STi hatch was such a disappointment compared to my '06. She never liked the car and as soon as it was paid off she traded it in on 2016 STi sedan. The '16 is bigger and heavier then my '06 but, it's sooooo much closer in feel, ride and handling. She is very happy now. Me too hehe
