According to Motor Trend's article the concept started out as a "hot-hatch", but is now a coupe (along the lines of the pic above).

Competition, in any segment, is a good thing.
Folks, chances are, the Nissan whatever will not actually look anything like this. Motor Trend draws these concept sketches based on their own imagination. I'd be very surprised if it did look like this.

if they are going to make a hatchback, i think it should be a lightweight awd turbo and call it Pulsar gti-r, or just they should make a small rwd Silvia

The FR-S/86 play the Japanese heritage card very, very well. I think this is one of the reasons this car is doing so well, apart from the high acclamations from almost every single magazine to get its hands on it.

Nissan will fluke with this juke/joke of a machine. "Silvia" is what should be ringing in their engineer's heads, not "Frankenstein Parts-bin Juke-baby".

Oh Miguel you need to apply to Nissan Design down here in SD please. You are dead on with the Silvia reference.

Light weight, turbo, rwd coupe for the younger buyers. That so hard?

Being that Nissan and Renault are one in the same I think they should revamp and release a new Clio V6 but stateside. I've always had a hard on for hot hatches. Especially V6 MR 250HP ones.

Who needs passengers? That's where my motor goes.

I think this is not too bad for a Nissan....it all depends on how much it weights and if is AWD or RWD. If it is turbo and AWD and weighs less than 3000 pounds, it will be the poor mans GTR. That will work..if they can get the price less than $25K

There is a niche for a cheap $25k AWD coupe. This will differentiate itself from the Toyobaru twins.

Friend of mine found this article. A far cry from the fwd hatch idea.

Sadly, I also don't see anything in here about dropping the price to the point of being more reasonable.

Please note, the article is interspersed with pictures in an unusually annoying way, so scroll down for the whole thing.

As a 17-year-old, that's mighty humbling

But yes, i completely think if Nissan played the heritage card, they would have people throwing money at them left and right. Hell, anything with the letters "...SX" at the end of it would make Nissan, and sports-car fans in general, get wildly moist.

if Nissan decides to build RWD turbo sports coupe, it will be $27-32k range like the pricing of BRZ. Not FRS(GT86).

Car manufacturers need to listen to the youth more. And I dont mean another Kia Soul.
