I'm trying to decide if I should drive up to SF where my parents live. My mom is back at home working and says I don't need to right now. Dad is still getting tested but he thinks he should be able to come home later.

Tough decision. I'm the only child local enough to get over there right now if needed so it's my responsibility.
Hope it was a one time thing and he is good. I always worry about my dad he is getting old.

I'd just base it off what they are telling you. If they say he is okay then I would say you did your part at least thinking about going.

Speaking as the dad of kids older than you I would say don't go. It may just piss him off if it was minor enough that your mom went to work but then you left work to go there.

Picture one is of Bradley's in late NATO camo I would guess it was taken some time between about 1988 and 2012 so at least 20 years after you were there. Since the Bradley didn't even go into service until 81 or 82 it is impossible anyway.

The "Canadians" in picture two are not in any way shape or form Canadian. I have no idea where they are from but we never had white t-shirts, black belts, combat shirts that tucked in nor badges over both pockets. The ballcaps that look sort of like the UN blue have a cap badge that is without a doubt not UN. The workshop truck and the 5 ton recovery wrecker are distinctly Canadian pattern though so it is confusing as to whom and where it actually is.

Sorry to hear that, spike021 -

How old is your Dad?

Hopefully, he has recovered with no lasting ill effects.

I agree with @Tcoat (on this one) that a personal visit wouldn't be necessary, however a phone call would be good.

He's my age, give or take a few months. In this situation, I would not expect my Son (who lives about 300 miles away) to come visit me. A phone call, Skype or even a text would do.

Heck, I don't even want folks local visiting me in the hospital if I'm there. I don't want folks seeing me in that situation.

Now if I was on my deathbed, well, I might ask for a little more effort, but anything short of that, I just want to know you are thinking about me.
