The Supra doesnt have toyota Safety Sense...it would be BMW's implementation and that wouldnt have the Safety Sense Name....so i think they just left the name off (its not called anything, but the safety features are listed individually)

The 86 would likely be the same way, it'll be Subaru's eyesight implementation, except it wouldnt be called eyesight. It might not even have a name just like the supra.

That is so weird about the Supra, I guess it’s better to have the safety features than not.
Maybe Toyota and Subaru can combine their safety technologies in the 2nd gen, Toyobaru Safety Eye Sight Sense. It has a nice ring to it.

I supposed they could have just called it Supra Safety Sense for consistency.

The whole car is BMW underneath including the software. All references to idrive is removed and i think they called the BMW connect thing Supra connect or something.

Plus it would be pretty odd if the supra gets some kind of safety feature in its "safety sense" but none of the other toyotas do. Or if the implementation/function is different or better/worse than the toyota one....someone not super knowledgeable would be wondering why its different between toyotas.

Perhaps they just didnt want to give it that name (or couldnt?) because its not a toyota implementation.

I doubt someone who doesn't know they are driving a BMW would recognize any difference.

"The main component to TSS is automated pre-collision warning and braking. This pre-collision system (PCS), which includes pedestrian detection, helps to prevent or mitigate a collision by detecting objects ahead of the vehicle."

Crowd surrounds your vehicle at a stoplight/stop sign. The automated braking system won't allow you to drive away as they break your windows and drag you out of the car.

Yeah I’m sure it’s because BMW owns the technology, and Toyota can’t call it anything specific. The more I think about that stuff the more I realize how little of Toyota is in the new Supra. And I know exactly how it went down. BMW probably allowed almost zero input from Toyota. It’s their platform, engine, and technology. And there is no way a stuck up company like BMW would allow Toyota any real input. I would love to know what Toyota thought the partnership was going to be like, compared to what it really was. Anyway rant over.
It just bums me out the Supra isn’t a real Toyota

But I also live in the northeast where left lane hogs are abundant so I have to move around.
It does nothing when turned off. Not a single thing. I have put many miles on both of our cars that had it and have never had the brakes kick in once. I did force it to happen a few times but you have to be really close with no indication that you are acting for them to do anything at all. If they were kicking in there was a reason.
Left lane hogs exist everywhere but I don't understand why moving around would activate the system. Any purposeful action you take cancels out the auto systems so they don't fight you,

You could simply turn it off. You still have that choice. So far.

If an 86 is your choice of vehicles in a zombie situation you are pretty much screwed anyway.

True, and hopefully if you turn it off it stays off.

Good point, I almost got stuck on a small branch the other day. Your only chance is to dial up to 11/10ths and dodge the zombies like traffic cones.
