Vland headlights on 17 86

Hi guys I recently just bought a 17 86 and need to get new headlights for it. I saw someone who had one with vlands that looked nice and wanted to opt for that look. Im still pretty new to lighting would I need a ballast, a certain bulb, or cables to work with the 86?

If you plan on running HIDs, yes, you'd need a ballast and D2H bulbs.

I'm trying to go the cheapest route since I'm on a budget would LED's work and without a ballast?

Vland headlights on 17 86

This is my setup. Cost effective and you get the better option. Aftermarket LEDs aren't nearly as good as aftermarket HIDs as far as light output. But it's up to you. I just really like HIDs.

Edit: yes, LEDs don't require a balast.

I got these and they come with the HID kit installed. They are just rebranded Vlands. The instructions even say Vland.

I stumbled upon the old ones and they seem perfect can they use led h7 bulbs or does it have to be hid h7 just so I don’t waste my time buying the wrong ones.

I bought directly from the Manufacturer, Vland. The rep told me as far as HIDs go, it's D2H bulbs.

They are legit and are probably one of the biggest retailers for our platform. The headlights are normally backordered so I wouldn't hesitate for long if you plan to order.

Wouldn't it be a downgrade to go from facelift LED headlights to Vland HIDs?

Depends on if you want to make changing bulbs a $30 issue or a $999 issue.

If the stock LED goes out (and there have been a few that have), it's a grand to replace it from with another OEM LED headlight assembly. $699 was the cheapest I could find it from an online source. That's per headlight.

If either of mine goes, I'll be going to a vland for price and future bulb replacement...

I did not realize that the LED headlights in later models require an entire headlight swap if the headlight burns out! Geez. That alone is enough reason for me to not buy the upgraded model.

Is this true for most OEM LED headlights?

Maybe a justifiable one but still a downgrade.
