how bad is my fitment and could spacers fix it?

I had an extra pair of 18 inch 225 michelin pilot super sports from a GTI I totalled (michigan deer love jumping out in front of you) and I decided I might as well make use of them so I paid $900 for some enkei wheels, I got 18x8 +40 cause I knew they would fit stock suspension, but I didn't check to see if they would be flush. I think they look better than stock wheels but theres still a fender gap and they are a little sunken in, and I fear it would look even worse if I lowered it.

I definitely want to lower the car cause its riding way to high now too.

What do you guys think I should do next? Im thinking just one inch lowered and 25mm spacers. Thanks in advance, but I really should have done my own research first

In my opinion, your plan sounds ideal.

I would just lower first. Then, you can decide if you want spacers.

def get lowering springs and 25mm spacers. if ur just after a 1inch drop dont waste your money on coils, unless of course you want to pay 700$ more for the same exact thing
