I'm not particularly mechanically inclined. How 'reliable' is this mod? I've read things in the past regarding light weight crank pulleys increasing wear due to resonance.

I wondered the same thing but after much search, and speaking with a subaru tech friend. the problems you see with other cars is that the pulley is dampened to absorb vibrations. on this car and most subie's the pulley is very much just that its a single piece of metal it does not a dampener and does not absorb any vibrations from the motor, so there should be no problems with this

plus if you have problems it takes like 10 minutes to replace the stock one if you have to go to the dealer

A little review on the Pulley. I installed it today.

This is copied from another thread:

I can tell you the pull in the first 3 gears "feels" better with the pulley compared to installing the KN filter. I am really not saying its a game changer, or that now your neck is snapped back. But you can easily notice the car is revving quicker and the reaction when getting on the throttle is improved as well. I am being honest I was very skeptical of the pulley. But i think for under $100 it is a worthy upgrade.

I just put this on my car today, the engine feels more responsive and i don't get that forward lurch when I shift now due to the engine slowing more rapidly.

Worth it!

I'd go black. The red likely won't match well with the red of the car but the black will obviously match the black bits in the engine bay.
