Then there all the resources inland. And sure, having no land boarders is a hassle for some people, not being able to just walk into another country must be a pain. And with our tight gun control, we have a lack of idiots shooting each other, makes watching the local news somewhat boring. And don't get me started on our "free" medicare for "all". Knowing that you are covered if you get sick or injured is a royal PITA. Our medicare is really like our social security system, knowing that the government will cover you when times are tough....shhessss, who would want that. And there is all the American, Asian, European, tourists that come over here and leave all their stinking money behind (well, not during the current apocalypse, the tourists only left a little Covid). Talking about the apocalypse, due to our governments quick thinking we have only lost 102 people, we need to try better because if this was a race we would be near on coming last. Yeah, this place sucks. I'm sure where you come from has none of our problems. Ride Johnny ride.

Ah the good old days:
Got a call from a guy in a plant several states away, saying your machine is no damn good. You better get down here and fix it now. I had repaired it a couple of times when the local tech could not get it going. I asked if he had talked to the local guy. Nope I was the guy that the plant manager had said to call. So to ask a few questions about the problem before I got on a plane. What do you see on the screen? Nothing!!! Well, the box under the desk, what lights are lit? Nothing!! Its broke, Quit wasting my time and get your ass down here!! Oh kay, did you check to see if it is plugged in? What do you think I am, stupid. long wait. I will call you back later. The backup power was un plugged by the cleaning lady and forgot to plug it back in. I had little trouble out of him after that. The next time I was in the plant he was nowhere to be seen. Asked the manager how he got the machine going ha said that the guy said he found a loose wire, |

![]() I have had similar, if I find the picture I will post it. Customer called with no power to the unit. The other service guy asked him to send a picture of the circuit board so we could see the status light. In the background you could see the cord unplugged

An other one, and its on me.
We had a new RF sealer in the plant and we were trying to get it to seal properly. I had just gotten a new HP35 calculator, that will date this. My pride and joy. I was calculating area and strength and time and gap. I would do the math set the calculator down beside me, put the shields back and fire the machine by hand. About the tenth time, and getting very close to perfect, I set the calculator on top of the machine put the shields back on and fired it. Looked for the calculator, oh, put it on top. Well it had forgotten everything, it would light up but nothing happened when you pushed the keys. Sent it back to HP for a programing update as the first ones would miscalculate the square root of 2. Worked just fine when I got it back. Here is a time check: who remembers RPN logic? I still have an RPN calculator, like to hand it to new engineers. |
