Well, what if I told you all 2019 North America Civic Type Rs have LSDs? Now what?

Open diffs are better. Did you know McLarens all have open diffs?

I didn't know about the McLarens, but I am not surprised either. Current tendency is to filter every single driver input by some type of electronic control system. So, an e-diff is the way to go with the best case scenario coupled to a very light biased LSD.

What if I told you the active diff in the Supra and M cars is only 10kg heavier than an open diff? Still feeling anorexic like those McLarens?

It is their way of A) getting your money out of you and B) a way to gimp a car that could slay the 911 in terms of performance if they let it.

I'll just repeat, after driving my factory LSD-equipped 987.2 (with +20% stiffer springs, GT3 control arms for camber, on Yok A052 tires) back to back vs. a 981 S with a TON more power (with street/track coilovers, headers, GT3 throttlebody, tune, on RE71Rs) at both Watkins Glen and at New Hampshire, running time-trial class-winning times in both cars, IMO these cars on "street" tires and street/track suspension setups do not *need* a limited slip diff for track work, certainly not for street.
Serious track car on Hoosiers, I bet they do, but at that point you'd want something stronger than the factory optional unit. |

In his own words: "Now I am the first to admit that I'm not the world's best driver and I was VERY rusty today, hadn't been on he track in months, " my best lap today was as good as my best last year " He's comparing setups a year apart. Honestly I expected the 981 with more power to suffer due to lack of LSD, but it didn't. It *could* be that it mighta had brake-simulated-lsd active tho, not sure... Anyway was running 1:09s at Watkins Glen, 1:13s at NHMS, street Cayman on street tires. In any case, if you get to the point that lsd is *needed*, the factory optional Porsche unit is probably not up to the task. It has next to no lockup on accel and experienced shop that sets a lot of these cars up says it's basically an open diff after a few events anyway... |

If ZDan is winning his TT class multiple times, he has a pretty good idea of what he's doing. (Assuming there are other decent competitors, of course)

Just curious is the GT4 LSD different, being a GT car? The GT4 would be a dream car of mine, not that I don’t love my BRZ.
