In 2018 the Subaru training reps had mentioned to me that the BRZ wouldnÂ’t get a turbo but would still have more power. These are the guys who back In 2017 told me that the Outback would be getting a tablet style screen and would phase out the 6-cyl for a 2.4T so they know stuff well ahead of us. Heck, they went to Japan that year to a meeting where they also discussed the new WRX and STI as well as the new BRZ.

Obviously these new changes are planned well ahead of time. I canÂ’t see why Subaru and Toyota would suddenly change plans, unless it had to do with Toyota acquiring more shares in Subaru, but that seems unlikely.

I'm thinking that there may be a real yolo sentiment after this silliness that drives people to purchase things like sports cars. Just a thought

If their figures are accurate, the car sounds like it'd be what the original car should've had. 177lbft of torque will help the car a lot

history shows the exact opposite. in fact, i've lived it. more frivolous spending, like home theaters(what i did right before the 2008 recession when times were good), sports cars, going out to eat, etc are things people tend to do when they're comfortable and the future looks good.

i'm seeing the same signs i saw at that time. most people are buttoning down the hatches and preparing, because 2008 wasn't that long ago to forget the hardships many went through, and no one really knows how long this is going to last. 2008 stuff really didn't start to recover until close to 2011-2015. it put a lot of people in a rough spot. the rich are in a comfortable spot-- they might skip a few vacations that they normally would take, but are otherwise almost unchanged, anyone middle class or lower is just mostly hoping to survive.

that kind of spending has a question mark on every item. do we really need ____?

when the majority of people are just trying to survive like this, fancy stuff like sports cars becomes a last priority, whether people realize it or not.

Their figures are bullshit a this point. It is just another rewrite of the same old shit. Clickbaits quoting clickbaits is not news.

At this point it doesn't even qualify as entertainment. I used to like reading up on potential new stuff coming down the pipeline. Now I see a new article on the 2nd gen twin

Even the latest up to speed from Donut Media on the twin quoted all the clickbait articles for the second gen

They have nothing else to write about. Well noting that would get clicks at any rate.
