That thing looks terrible on so many levels. It wouldn't sell well if it was made.

Enough about the body what are you thoughts on the idea of the idea?

Something like this could be 100PS, 5spd, 2000-2200lbs before-after stateside?

120hp sounds about right if you ask me. Of course power is just a number. True sport feel comes from engine response, how freely it revs, etc.

The weight seems about right for the rumored size of the car, however, I wouldn't be surprised to see that number climb up to 2400lbs when it comes stateside. If its just a 2 seater (no 2+2) then I unno if I'd be interested.

Hmm a new MR2 that's like the second Gen version would be extremely welcomed. I always loved MR layouts

I think this is pretty much a simple front engine deal. If it was rear engine it would be different.

And 100PS or 120PS w/e.

Ditto, it's all opinion on the looks. IMO Smart FourTwo looks uglier than that concept... but again, that's just my opinion.

BUT I do agree the thoughts on the idea of the idea is great. Mini bro of FT which pushing 100ps, 5sp, 2000~2200lbs for $18k base should be awesome idea.

Toyota should definitely make this. 160hp isn't asking much considering they could just expand the development of their new 1.5L engine to include this one(I'm assuming Toyota has some project to replace the 11 year old 1NZ-FE). Who knows, with this engine they just might bring back the Toyota hot hatch(turbo starlet)

Point > You

I have a secret hope that the mini-86 gets a version of the new Subaru/Cosworth 1.6L flat-4. Assuming that Toyota has a supersecret 1.5L project to keep a 11 year old engine alive is a bit hard to believe. And I do believe the '69 moon landing happened. So there.

That article comes across as just a rumor IMHO. But I do like that idea. 109BHP isn't too much to ask from a 1.5L. I'd love to have a nice small RWD car. Jeez I need kick it into high gear and get some money saved up .

That pic is from Bestcar so that's probably their source for the article and the picture is probably not even based on anything other than the style of Toyota cars . My best guess is that this would be some sort of hatchback or roadster not a coupe if the autoshow car was any indication.
