Agreed. Also check the that outer contacts of the male RCA connector are making a solid connection. It wouldn't hurt to just squeeze the "petals" together a little to insure a solid signal ground.

If it is this one below then it is designed for the stock BRZ headunits and factory rear camera, which is a 6v source. Your headunit is probably 12v (99% sure). https://www.amazon.com/Subaru-Backup.../dp/B0141CKFIE I bought this one, which is 12v and works with my aftermarket Kenwood headunit. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H852D49...xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== Normally, people have a 6v stock camera and a 6v stock headunit and when they buy a 12v aftermarket head unit they have to get a 12v to 6v converter. I just bought a 12v camera when I bought my 12v headunit because I didn't have the OEM one with my 2013 BRZ. Either buy this converter or buy a 12v rear camera and return the old one. https://www.amazon.com/12-Volt-6-Vol.../dp/B07891KK4K

Usually there are grounding bolts you can use both behind the dash and in the trunk area. Any bolt that goes directly into the metal is good. Typically you'll see a grounding bolt being used by factory wires, it's perfectly fine to use that one. Don't tap into a wire coming off of it, bolt your wire on with the rest of them using a fork or ring end.

the video signal is too low. you either need to boost the video signal voltage, or replace the camera. i would replace the camera.

The ground wire for the rear that I used was the chassis ground that is behind the plastic in the trunk. If you remove the plastic that covers the trunk latch then you will see a chassis ground. Remove that bolt and add your ground to that location.

I believe he bought a 6v camera designed for the stock head unit, but he needed to buy a 12v camera for the aftermarket head unit.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I had a local audio guy come take a look at it and they just ended up frying the 6v camera so I had to call up camerasource to receive a warranty replacement camera and ordered a 12v to 6v converter like @ had suggested. I hooked everything up and the reverse camera is now working flawlessly with my headunit.
